It's a long story but ds2 has ended up with a party with c.30 guests, aged 5-9, for 2 hrs. We will have a HUGE church hall, with a bouncy assault course and bouncy castle, and still have LOADS of room for games/play.

We will only have the inflatables up for specific times - maybe two 20 min sessions; with calming games/activities inbetween.

Your ideas please, esp on Doctor Who theme - decorations, party bags, or activities/games.

So far:

  1. "Starter" as they arrive - Doctor Who characters around the walls with scrambled names for them to solve on an answer sheet.
  2. Pass the parcel
  3. Food with Doctor Who names - cyberman sandwiches, etc.

Can the adults organising it dress up too?

Arghh... I hate all this party nonsense. I used to love it when they were tiny, but I guess I've grown out of it.

After two years of tiny parties (day outings with small groups or meal/cinema) I cannot understand how I've ended up with this one again.

I've created my quiz to start off the session. Dh has promised to wrap pass the parcel for me tonight.

Dalek cake (the last one!) bought from Tescos.

Dh has taken the boys off to the zoo, and I'm going to make Dalek biscuits now.

Is it happening this weekend? Is it too late for a party bag suggestion? It's just that The Book People have sets of Dr Who "novelisations" - 10 books for £9.99 (normally supposed to be £10! each) - one of which, with a self-decorated Dalek biscuit (that's a brilliant idea) - would be perfect party bag.

Oh, thanks for thinking of us Bink.

As we've lots of guests, I'm being a complete cheapskate on partybags (which I hate anyway): just put some sweets in and a balloon.

I can't wait til it's over tbh

good luck with the party roisin (really sounds fabulous!)

just wanted to nip on and thank jackieno, mrswho, speccy and others who suggested the dalek biscuits! I've just nipped down to sainsburies to grab 2 packets of them for the cutters! Brilliant.

Phew! It's all over. It went well, I think.

Wedgiesmum was an absolute star helping out with supervision of children, giving hard stares when necessary, sorting out food and drinks - what an angel! My bil and sil were great too.

It's the first time I've done a party that we've had practically no food wastage. But we did have 3x 9yr-old boys, and lots of 8 yr-olds; and they'd been working up an appetite on the bouncy castles, and we didn't get 'lunch' out until 1.30 - so they would have been starving!

Glad it went well Roisin!

Dropping in a bit late (have been away) to say delighted it went so well - I bet it was the party of the year!

(How is that Dalek cutter? It looks a bit flimsy & as if might be difficult to extricate the biscuit-dough-shapes from inside it? Have seen the mix & am tempted.)
