please bear with me as this sounds vaguely silly - even to me! 0my dd has been invited to a fairytale party and she is to go as her fave character. i have not had to take her to a themed party before and am now panicking slightly.can she go as a character that isn't from a fairy tale?! and where can i get a costume from???????

see - i said it sounded silly

woolworths do lots of dressing up clothes M&S Tesco's and Asda do too if you can spare £15 I would just buy an outfit ime these seem to be what is worn

Hulababy · 02/05/2007 19:54

I go for any storybook charcater. DD had these theme for her party this year. She had a Red Riding Hood costume from ebay, and I made a basket out of card and mesh type material, with play food on top covered with a napkin.

Or what about princesses or fairies - lots of costumes for £10-£15 a time in Woolworths and Asda. More expensive ones in Disney Store. M&S do fancy dress too, as do Adams and ELC/Toys R Us, etc. Infact most children's clothes and toy shops.

Or if you are practical you could make one.

Hulababy · 02/05/2007 19:56

Woolworths

PandaG · 02/05/2007 19:56

sleeping beauty - wear a pretty nightdress if she has one?

Any princess dressing up - can be any one of a number of princesses

red hooded cape (hoody/anorak...) and basket, little red riding hood

ears, one leg of tights stuffed as a tail, eyeliner whiskers and wellies - puss in boots

any of those any good?

fransmom · 02/05/2007 20:00

Many of the age 3-4 come up small though. DD had the Tinkerbell dress when she was 2 and it fit fine.

fransmom · 02/05/2007 20:35

It was from either Woolworths or Mothercare, can't remember which.

gothicmama · 03/05/2007 16:47

dd had her first dress up from mothercare was 3 years and she was younger but it kinda fitted her

Clary · 04/05/2007 16:58

Red riding hood is easy if you (or someone you know) can run up a quick red cape and hood.

Or yes as others say, Snow White, Cinderella etc are from fairy tales.

Asda and Sainsbo's sell costumes in tiny sizes. They ofetn come up small too, DD had a Belle dress in 3-5 but it would fit a 2yo frankly (and certainly not any 5yo I know lol)

fransmom · 04/05/2007 20:51

dp bought her a generic fairy outfit from adams and it cost him £18 for a dress type thingy, a wand and a little fairy bag

i wish i'd known about the asda one - could've saved a bundle!
