I always find myself acutely aware of it as a mating ritual, and alternately embarassed/amused by it. Largely in a 'well, I didn't think I was sexually compatible with this woman/old man/weirdo, but it's good to have that confirmed ' sort of way.

Am I the only one?

My dd has been brought up going to Highlands of Scotland every year and loves a ceilidh. She asked me what our trad dancing was down her (S.London/Kent) and I told her about the Morris Dancers. When she saw them, she was shocked and a tad embarrassed that that was it!

There was an 8-months-pregnant woman there last night, dancing very enthusiastically.

We quite often have them as leaving do s at work, and I am always in a set of people who can't do it (wonder why ) and we end up ROFL!

There is never enough men dancing either , though am not a touchy person and don't like the holding hands/arm etc

MrsWho, where do you work that you have these for leaving dos? Are you in Scotland? Or in an industry that is particularly rife with folk dancing?

The other day, I saw an English bloke wearing a dress kilt with trainers.

SOOO attractive.

Everyone was laughing at him as he walked past.

I work in a SN school! Just seems that the older members of staff are all friends and all go to Celidhs together and they are the ones leaving (one at a time !)

OOh, me and princesscc went to a ceilidh on the Renfrew ferry in Glasgow once, in our misspent youth - I am surprised I didn't spin straight off it. We were ridiculously drunk and it's not big and it's not clever to be that pissed and be spinning off in all directions.

And a few clipping shed ceilidhs too, up in the Highlands - the London contingent were spun extra specially hard by the Scots - just for the craic - ha blardy ha!
