Just left ds 4 at a party at a wacky warehouse type place. It looked chaotic. I know he will be fine but just wondered as many parents in his class stay with their dc's.

Yep -similar to you. Waited till school parties...

tortoiseSHELL · 25/03/2007 15:43

I have left from 3, but only with people who are MY friends iyswim (not childrens' friends, whose parents I don't really know). From age 4 they're fine to be left imo.

Kbear · 25/03/2007 15:44

I don't leave my DS at soft play places now and he's 5!

Kbear · 25/03/2007 15:44

Whatever you feel happy with I think.

wildwoman · 25/03/2007 15:45

school age parties were the first, he'll be fine

DumbledoresGirl · 25/03/2007 15:50

I left my 4 yo at a party at a shopping mall creche on Friday. I wasn't willing to, but I could not stay as I had my three other children and lack of space meant that no-one with other children was allowed to stay. At first we were going to decline the invite as ds3 was not happy to be alone, but he wanted to go so much that he finally decided he didn't mind being left. He was fine.

Normally, I think once they are at school, they should be left.

LilyLoo · 25/03/2007 15:52

Thanks for comments i know he'll be fine. He not at all shy. He said he didn't mind me going as long as i picked him up before bedtime . Just thought that other parents might frown on it. The mum whose party it was was fine.

I don't like the idea of one mum being left with up to 20 4/5 year olds in soft play. Bit of a responsibility. Usually mums are glad of a few mums staying.

Kbear · 25/03/2007 15:53

I wouldn't frown on it either, just doesn't suit me at the moment.

Over-protective Kbear!

LilyLoo · 25/03/2007 15:55

Agree KBear but thought that there were plenty of mums staying and tbh i will be glad of the help off them next week at my ds's party. Does that make me a hypocrit ? Oh dear !

i left ds1 at 3. There were plenty of adults there, the house was tiny, and ds1 has always been fine about being left

MamaG · 25/03/2007 16:13

I'm over protective too KBear, didn't leave DD at soft play parties until she was 6! IME the kids run riot and although no children have ever been hurt at any parties I've been to, I couldn't relax.

I'm a freak: official.

lilyloo I'm sure ds will be fine though!

RedLorryYellowLorry · 25/03/2007 16:14

I left dd at 3.6 yo at a Hall party. I am really embarassed now as everyone else stayed. I felt she'd be fine because (a) she went to pre-school in that hall so knew where everything was and (b) the mother of the party girl was the Assistant Manager of the pre-school so dd knew her very well. I haven't left ds yet and he's 4.6 yo so I am about leaving dd (she is very mature for her age though ).

RedLorryYellowLorry · 25/03/2007 16:17

My ds and soft play aren't a good mix - he's gets lively. The last party he went to a bigger boy ground his face into the floor and dh had to rescue him. The bigger boy did apologise but still, poor ds's face was red and marked.

brimfull · 25/03/2007 16:18

I took ds to a b'day party a few weeks ago .an indoor adventure playsite.I stayed (ds is 4.5) because ds has nut allergy and also the place was huge.
Only two mums stayed and we helped the b'day boys mum.Quite a few children were upset because the place was so busy ,and they couldn't find the right adult(loads of parties going on).A few children got lost...it was a nightmare.I was very glad I stayed.

Kbear · 25/03/2007 16:18

and there is a big difference between leaving them at house parties and soft play places.

LilyLoo · 25/03/2007 16:19

Begiining to think i should have posted this op after i had picked him up !

I have always stayed but only really as its easier then dropping them off going home and then having to go back and pick them up after. I think if i had a car i may leave him but i dont so have to walk or get a bus.

LilyLoo · 25/03/2007 17:18

He's back he's fine he loved it ! [relief emotion]
