For anyone looking for something a little different ....

I've just bought a selection of books from 'The Works' book shop - all at the remarkable price of just 99p each.
They are really lovely books too with great stories.
I am planning to give each child a couple of books each, together with a heart shaped baked & glittery iced fairy cake and an easter bunny choc lollipop.
Hope they go down better than the usual stickers and bubbles that seem to be the norm.

For the girls I've also made them a pretty hanging for their bedrooms. Perhaps I'll post a piccy at some point to get some feedback?

they do great collections on the book people too 10 for £10

I would only give them a book each .. you don't want to set a precedent for spending too much on party bags .. it becomes a competitive and spiralling competition then

Sounds lovely and very thoughtful but would be with Twiglett here and say not to give them too much.

this year i am doing a lucky dip kind of thing, wrapping up toys (£1 and less) for each person having a decorated b9in bag for girls and boys to dip in on the way out of the party

Mmm, perhaps you are right. But what if someone realises they were only 99p each. Will I be deemed stingy ?
I suppose with a cake and choccy bunny, it's enough really.
I've probably over compensated as there are only 8 children coming (aged 3) and I feel a bit guilty dd is not having the big bash thing.
I know she'll enjoy it just as much though.
Thanks for the advice

no I think its fairly standard to limit contents of party bags to £1 .. party costs mount up so quickly .. Plus you're giving them cake and lollypop

they'll love it

Are you planning on wrapping up the books .. I did thsi for DS' 3rd books and the children chose their own as a lucky dip when they left

One book each, wrapped up nicely and a fairy cake will be plenty. We never spend more than £1 on party bags and I don't think many other parents round here do either. The homemade hangings sound lovely!
