Dd's birthday party is tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon...and the biggest snowfall of the year is forecast!

I'm hoping against hope that the snow skirts 'round us, with minimal accumulation/disruption, but I realise that is extremely optimistic (unrealistic?) based on the current forecast.

Do I go ahead with the party no matter what? At what point, and under what conditions do I consider cancelling/postponing? Eeeeeek!!!

We're in central London, and the party is after school at a hall with entertainment booked, cake bought, food purchased, etc....

It will be fine! Snow is lovely! And btw, it's my dd's second birthday tomorrow too. Happy birthday to yours.

Think positive thoughts!

Will be fine, you can chuck them all outside for a snowball fight (assuming hall has a bit of land around it??) or snowman building contests? Happy Birthday to dd

I know that severe weather often doesn't materialise, in spite of grim forecasts. Of course I want everyone to be safe, but my fear is that Mums will decide to go straight home from school instead of fighting weather/traffic in order to attend a party.

No! If it snows everyone will be wildly excited and looking for fun things to do!

Oh, I hope all of you are right, and that everything will be fine. I'm currently proceeding on that basis.

Aloha - happy birthday to your dd. My dd's birthday isn't until next week, but as the exact day falls during half term, we're having her party early.

There's maybe an inch of snow on the ground here in London this morning and it appears to have stopped coming down. But, I'm sure that will be enough to disrupt the morning commute to some degree.

I won't fully know the situation until we go out for the school run...but do you think we'll be wise/safe to proceed with the party as planned?

Once everyone gets out on the roads it will be fine. Snow is forecast to clear by 11am. Grab a big pile of newspaper to put down in the entrance for all those slushy boots

Started snowing here again......
