Can anyone give me any ideas as to what to put in them please. I have so far thought of;

bubbles
a bath toy
poss a bib?

the babies vary in age from 6mths-12mths.

Thanks

they don't need any more than that!
all good ideas

itsmeNDP · 06/02/2007 11:42

little board book ? (You can get them in multipacks and split them)

In all honesty, however, I just wouldnt bother with party bags for babies

McDreamy · 06/02/2007 11:43

Have to agree - it's DD's 4th birthday party on Valentines Day and this will be the first year I am going to do party bags. But if you are going to do them they all sound like good ideas.

Chloe55 · 06/02/2007 11:54

Well, I have about 4 5-yr olds coming too and so will be doing them little party bags, just don't want the babies to miss out really or more-so the mums of the babies

I know what you mean though about them not needing them, it's not like they know, just hate to leave anyone out.

Why not get helium balloons for the little ones -thats what we did for the friends of ours when they were 1.

They have great fun playing with them and they usually last a while.

LIZS · 06/02/2007 13:59

er , none ! What about a picture book from the Book People if you feel you must do something ?

funnypeculiar · 06/02/2007 14:04

all good ideas, as are helium balloons.
Ds is having his 3rd party on Sat, and I'm STILL not doing party bags ... although everyone will have a gingerbread man to take home

paulaplumpbottom · 06/02/2007 21:07

Just get them a cuddly toy

I swore off party bags for my last birthday party - just got a wide range of books, for big kids and little ones, from the Book People and similar, and handed out those instead.

fridayschild · 06/02/2007 21:33

DS2 got Just One Thing when he was at a party his brother had been invited to, and didn't notice he'd been short-changed... he was 18 months old

how about a toothbrush if you must give them anything? doesn't matter if they go straight into the babies' mouths

don't do them for anyone, it's a mad and expensive cycle to get into

twelveyeargap · 06/02/2007 21:39

Is it REALLY necessary to give party bags to children who don't even know what they are?

Perhaps something for the parents might go down better. Just a thought. I'd be touched if me or the kiddies got something, but I wouldn't fret about it.

It's the snotty 6 year olds saying, "eugh, what's THIS. I don't want THIS" that's a pain with party bags!

bandstand · 06/02/2007 21:52

piece of cake and a balloon, only if you must

bandstand · 06/02/2007 21:52

ime they don't even eat the cake.

bandstand · 06/02/2007 21:54

couple of times i have done a lucky dip, which worked well with older kiddies, well some complained and did swapsees, ... but i spose you always get complainers

Chloe55 · 07/02/2007 08:30

Thanks everyone. Ok, you've convinced me. Think I'll forego the party bags and put some bubbles on a table and give everyone a little teddy/book as they leave, I could probably do that for under a tenner for the lot.

I do have a habit of getting a bit carried away and I'm new to the whole birthday thing so I'm glad I have yuou lot to tell me I am being rediculous

Your baby is lucky to have such an enthusiastic mommy

Arrrgh. I have been to two 1st birthday parties so far this year (dd is 1 in June) and we are already on the party bag/ alpha mum treadmill. I'm planning DD's party (a barbecue) and I really like the helium balloon idea as we have two party bags with things in that I won't give to dd but feel bad about chucking away that are now sat in no-mans-land (on the stairs! lol!)

Otherwise, a different thread suggests a book wrapped for a girl or a boy and doing a 'lucky dip'.
