Party between Christmas and NY?

DS turns 4 on 30th December. Last year, we held his party in January, once nursery had resumed but this looks tricky this year. He attends a small nursery and two children he is friendly with both have birthdays around the first weekend after term starts. Earlier in December is also tricky, as most of our NCT group have birthdays earlier in the month, so a good third of or guests already attend a party every weekend then.

DH thinks that we should just book DSs party for his actual birthday, but I'm not sure many people would turn up.

So, if your children received an invitation to a party between Christmas and New Year, would you be likely to accept/ attend?

I would turn up - by 30th Dec kids are ready for a change of scene I think.

The 29th would be ok but on the 30th we're usually prepping for NYE in some shape or form so it's a busy day.

Yes, definitely, as we are only a couple of weeks into the school holidays and DD is really bored without toddler groups to go to as they predominantly stop during the school holidays. A party would be a lovely way to break up the monotony of being at home, especially in winter when the weather means you can't do so much outside of the house.

We'd be delighted. New year isn't much of a holiday for young ones because a late night is a late night is a late night. Our doesn't stay up.

Ah, lovely, thank-you all for the rapid feedback. So, it looks as though it might be worth thinking about. We realise some people will be busy (DS's Godparent always go away that week etc.), but as long as some children could come he'd be happy.

I would be very grateful for an invitation at that time of year, just make sure you send the invitations out slightly earlier than you would do in case people are making plans.

The 30th would be okay as most Xmas trips.away are over by then. We got married on the 28th and was tricky for a few people!

Hmm. I wouldn't. My ds's birthday is 28th Dec. We have tried parties in between Xmas and New Year. People are often away or busy or don't want to commit in advance or change plans.. Last year we had a party just before Xmas and that worked much better.
