During the first week of Aug this yr, its my 40th, my mum's 70th and my DD's 1st birthday. Want to have an afternoon garden party to celebrate, given its such a once in a lifetime event, would really appreciate any ideas on any topic around it,eg entertainment, food etc. Will probably invite around 50 friends and family, half of which will be under 10

Oh that sounds lovely!
What's your budget?
Have you any ideas about it?
What about a photo board? Ask people to bring any old photos they have of you/your mum to display

I think I'd have a tea band
a bouncy castle
Champagne, mini sandwiches, fairy cakes
A visitors book
Someone taking photos

WideWebWitch · 21/01/2007 19:57

Given enough space/money of course!

And I think I'd see if I could buy mini tiny candles and have 70 fairy cakes with a candle on each of them. Or 111 maybe, 70 + 40 + 1 and then each of the 50 guests could have 2 each or one and one to take home.

ooh what fun! Have 70 cakes one colour, 40 another colour, and one pink one for your dd! Start making them now, and bung them in the freezer, then ice them the day or so before.

it sounds like it will be a very special day , you could have an entertainer that walks around the people rather than have it is a main attraction.

bumping this to see if anyone else out there has more ideas??

My sister had a casino party. There are companies that hire tables(eg. to play blackjack)and also send someone to man them. It is all with pretend money ofcourse. It went down very well with the adults. She also hired a margarita machine.
You could also maybe have croquet in your lawn.
For the children a bouncy castle, paddling pool and you could rope in a friend to do some face painting/hair braiding.

Have fun!
