My DD got an invitation this morning for a make your own pizza party at Pizza Express. Apparently they go in before opening, into the kitchen and make their own pizzas wearing chefs hats. They then get cooked and they can eat them. I am going along to help so will report back if any good.

DD had one like that at Pizza Hut, while place is open, they do it one at a time on the buffet area (Buffet not on), can take a while as they do it one at a time and basicly tip there toppings on, might be a bit more to do at the pizza express one, for Pizza Hut I would recommend no maore then 10 children as it takes a while to make them all and then cook them.

our year 9 students do this every year and have a blast!

Psychomum did this kind of thing at home - small group of 9yr olds, she made the bases before they came, gave em a load of bowls with toppings on and let them loose.

They then decorated t-shirts with fabric pens/glitter n bits whilst the pizzas cooked.

They ate the pizzas, took the t-shirts home instead of party bags.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself (both my DC were ill )

How serendipitous to find this thread. I was about to post about pizza parties. Now maybe I am asking for trouble, I've decided that for my 3 year old son's party I am going to hold a pizza party at my house. There will only be 6 little 3 year olds and my plan was this:

Let them run around for a bit and play

Then let them each make their own pizzas (I will either buy or make the dough and make a hidden veg sauce for the base).

As a gift they will each get a little rolling pin, and they will each get a plastic apron and paper chefs hat.

AS the pizzas are cooking, they get to decorate their pizza boxes. Then they eat them out of the boxes - no need for additional plates etc

Then more running around and a cake - that's it.

I thought I was sorted when I found this FAB pizza party kit on a US site but they don't ship to the UK. I have emailed them begging them to but haven't heard back. Does anyone know of something similar in the UK that I can buy??

Sounds lovely - how many people will be helping you???

JoshandJamie · 09/01/2007 16:48

all their mommies!

I must have been living under a rock! I thought this was a new idea. I think it's a good idea not to have too many by the sound of it. Large plastic sheet on floor under three year olds if you are doing it at home me thinks.

would be great if my Dss ate pizza

flamesparrow · 09/01/2007 16:56

That's ok then - sounds great

We had a pizza party in September for DD2's 8th birthday. The kids loved it and ate all their food.

JAJ.... if they don't ship one... maybe it could be a new business for you?

AUBINA · 09/01/2007 21:05

We made pizzas for part of my dds 7th birthday party. An easy pizza base is to use those round pitta breads, cut in half.

JoshandJamie · 09/01/2007 21:07

So after searching and searching, I have finally ordered very nice Tyrrell Katz aprons and kiddy rolling pins - which the kids can take home with them. Have found some paper chefs hats and ordered those. I know I could make them but it would take me so long because I am absolutely useless craftwise and they weren't expensive.

Still haven't found pizza boxes. Have found one site that sells them individually but the pic they have doesnt match the description.

I wish I could have just ordered from the US bunch. And I've ordered some fab pizza invitations from vista print that are customised and didn't cost much more than what you'd pay for a pack of invitations at WH SMith or somewhere.

Wish me luck. Dont think my kitchen is ever going to be the same again. Where do you get big pieces of plastic sheeting??

TickledPink · 09/01/2007 22:33

If you are not kidding about plastic sheeting, tesco used to sell 'value' plastic sheets for decorating, two in a pack, very reasonable and very large! In the mean time wish me luck for my DD's party which we are having at home (not pizzas) on Saturday.

Thanks TickledPink. I wasn't joking. Definitely need the plastic sheets so will head off to Tesco. Good luck with your party!
