I can't be arsed to go. It's local, it's at a friends with all their relations - but I just want to stay in, watch Jools and go to bed. The thought of standing around until 12 to celebrate with people I don't know or care about just makes me fills me with dread.

That's it, I'm officially old. I was always first in line for a party, last to leave.

Form an orderly queue in your slippers if you're staying in tomorrow night!

ooh, the "care about" comment sounded harsher than I meant it. By that I meant "not my family"!

can you say you're doing something with family? or how old are you dc? could say it would upset their routine too much?

CaptainFlameSparrow · 30/12/2006 22:34

I'm in. Our party was cancelled and I was pleased

SherlockLGJ · 30/12/2006 22:34

DH and I are staying in......from choice.

Nice dinner, nice wine, nice chat.

Make and take some calls at midnight, and in bed by 12.30................. Bliss.

brandy7 · 30/12/2006 22:35

staying in and pleased, will be watching jools as well

Kbear · 30/12/2006 22:38

Thing is, DH told them today they we would come, it's nice of them to ask us, they're fairly good mates of ours although we won't be missed, they have plenty of rellies going. The kids all get on great and they aren't babies I can blame "routine" on. There's no reason not to go. Except sleepiness and cosiness and all that Baileys in my kitchen with my name on it!

Just can't be bothered. That's awful isn't it?

Did a straw-poll with all our mates recently ....

we made a pact not to have a party - as the rest of us would have to go / find excuses not to go ....

most of us are going out early with the kids ( aged 14 - 6 ) and then cracking open a botle of bubbly with dH/DP ....

and probably not even seing midnight ....

face it ... most of us feel that new year is over-rated ( unless you are AMANDA1 ) .... so why pretend ??

Enjoy the evening like you reall want to .... start the new year as you want to - please yourselves rather than everyone else !!!!

Have a good one !

I would love to go out for dinner with the children and back home for a relaxing evening. DH has said we don't have to stay until 12 if we go, just show our faces and have a drink BUT I know you can't leave a NYE party before 12 without being party poopers of the year!!

Maybe if I glam myself up tomorrow I will feel like it. Sitting here in my dressing gown isn't inspiring me to go out and party!

AArgh, then there is the What to Wear dilemma.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

could you not pretend you are ill, or one of the children? i know it's a bit naughty but its not like any of us haven't done it before!

paulaplumpbottom · 31/12/2006 12:14

I think its pregnancy hormones I can't possibly stay up that late.

WeWishUAMerryXmasNANappyNewYr · 31/12/2006 20:25

or could you go and fake a headache?

Kbear · 01/01/2007 16:30

Well we went.

We had a really good time too and I felt bad that I didn't want to go! It was more a gathering than a party, less people than last year and much better. We are lucky to have good mates to celebrate with and it was a nice way to see in the New Year.

Happy 2007 everyone!
