I always make sure each child gets the same, it saves tears etc. especially if they are younger

USe plastic bags rather than paper (obv with parental supervision !! before I get reported !!) - not as much mess & easier to unwrap as you can secure with just one piece of tape

(not as pretty though !!)

Tip - don;t put too many wrappers on or else kids will get bored. If you have 43 ??! kids I'd have several circles going at once or several parcels going round one VERY big circle

I can't think of a way to control more than 2 pass the parcels at the same time and even that must be tricky.

If I was you, with 43, I'd ditch the game completely.

Musical bumps/chairs/statues?

mysonsmummy, with 43 kids (!) I'd be tempted to do a forfeits one, then not everyone needs a go.

Either write the forfeits or if children are too small (like, under 5) then write a number and tell them the forfeit from yr list.

Not all of 43 kids will play anyway, IME.

Forfeits - things like do a star jump, hop across the circle, sing a nursery rhyme etc. Has worked well for me.

To ensure every child gets something I get my mum or my dad to do the music. I sit close by to sort the paper into the rubbish bag and also so that I can tap them with my foot so they know when to stop the music. Saves on sulks and tantrums!

Where we live no one seems to do wrapped parcels anymore. Either

i) a cuddly toy gets passed round with ribbons attached and each time the music stops a ribbon is traded for a sweet.

or

ii) a box of sweets is passed around with each child removing a sweet when the music stops.

When no sweets/ribbons left the last child gets the "big" gift.
