I am having an 80s theme party (a good few weeks off yet, so plenty of time) BUT I need a MN brainstorm session to give me some extra ideas.
I want to decorate a room to look like an 80s club/disco ..... some ideas please !

What do the 80s mean to you ??

lazer light show? I remember going to a club in torquay in 1984 called lazers, and the highlight of the evening was a light show - we thought it was amazing at the time!!

Whizzz · 28/10/2006 22:43

again,not sure I can re-create a laser show

(I could maybe wave one of those presentation pointers about in time with the music)

right, this is next week....I have music, lights, 80s quiz.....what else ????

Also thought of some 'props' as I have a Sinclair Spectrum, Rubiks cube & some old games I may leave out eg. Operation & Buckaroo as I think they were originally out in the 80s - Opinions : nice or naff ??

Oh this sounds fantastic Whizz, I had a snoood too! Also leg warmers, raa raa skirt, a puff ball skirt, RELAX t shirt, black khol eye liner, a new romantic frilly shirt, blusher in stripes down my cheeks. Then I discovered the smith and got "sophisticated". I did my hair very wildly with a diffuser, and I wore mens overcoats which I bought from Oxfam cos I was "alternative". Ahh, fond memories, what a prat I was

Whizzz · 16/12/2006 15:14

I was trying to explain to DH what a snooooood was - he had no idea they existed !

I'm doing 80s yuppie style coloured cocktails too - blue, green & red Bols (no. not all together !) - don;t care what they taste like - they'll look good !

Just thought I'd report back - we had a brilliant party last night & not too much mess to clear up this morning either (& not too bad a hangover either, although can't say the same for my DH )
I may just post a pic of me in my outfit for a very brief moment once I get sorted !!
