best-ever party bag...?

I'm SURE this has been done, but I can't find it. So it has reached that dreaded time when I have to think about stuffing party bags again. What was the best one your child ever brought back from a party? I need inspiration! (Don't worry about redirecting me to where it has been done before, I won't mind!)

Many thanks for any advice.

The one my son enjoyed most was when party mum was on a budget so handed out a piece of cake and had a lucky dip of cheap but beautifully wrapped presents on my way out. Inspired!

All the party bag threads I've been on here have been full of people saying the best party bag is a slice of cake and a (unblownup) balloon! Nobody wants a ton of tat.

Though I like the idea of the lucky dip. Makes a game out of it, and means you only have to get 1 thing per child. Children will like the mechanism more than the gift.

That said, back in the day when I thought party bags were de rigeur, I bought things like multipacks of glitter glue tubes and gel pens and broke the packs up, so at least the tat in the bag was useful tat.

Best one in DS's view was a football - from a football themed party - one of those £1.99 ones each as party gift after they had finished playing with them.

Cake, balloon and a novelty candy item - RingPop (sold in Tesco) or candy necklace or something equally tacky that you wouldn't normally allow.

Or being allowed to grab a handful of (wrapped) sweets on the way out. Always amusing to see who grabs loads and who politely asks to take two, one for their little brother Grin

My dd went to an slice in wonderland birthday party for 5 year old friend- instead if party bags they got a little homemade felt 'mad hatter' hat which fitted onto a hairband. She loves it!
Once ordered ceramic owls etc from baker Ross and painted them at the party then put them in bags to take home= activity plus party bag sorted.
Balloons always popular/ especially helium or the punch ones. X

Yes to candy necklaces. Everyone loved them, boys and girls alike. The other fave was a mini-slinky. I usually ferry a group of kids home after parties and allow them to open their bags in the car while I pay attention to what they find. Cake is not so important, nicer if actually eaten at the party.

these stretchy frogs from Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B002Q75QWW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1423262632&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=party+bag+frogs&dpPl=1&dpID=41vQIAdtM6L&ref=plSrch

Got them for DD's party bags last year, we had a few left over, the kids were playing with them for weeks! In fact, Amazon in general is awesome for party bags. Another big hit with my kids are tattoos, which you can also get very cheaply on Amazon.

When my son was 4 he got a teeny weeny teddy bear in a party bag. 6 years later he still gets cross if his little brother "borrows" it
