Hello everyone,

Its my ds' first birthday next month and I am absolutely baffled what I should do for it. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?

I want something that will be enjoyable for the kids and the adults. Im only planning to invite family.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Just do a buffet, balloons for hte kids and usual toys.

No point doing party games for a 1 year old.

He'll only want to bite wrapping paper anyway

with jessica's first birthday, it was the summer so we had a BBQ and she played in her ball pit and swing etc... so easy!

Rebecca is 1 on the 25th and im stuck too! I think we will probably just have a birthday tea for her, she isnt going to know any different so i refuse to spend too much, and its just as nice having immediate family round to open presents and have a slice of cake!

My DS's 1st birthday next month too, scary isn't it? Think we will do exactly the same as we did for DD. Told everyone we were going swimming at a certain time and then back to ours afterwards for cake. They were invited to join us for both but could come to one or the other if they wanted.
Nice and relaxed, very little organisation and no problem if no-one comes! Both of mine LOVE swimming so everyone happy

for ,my d's 1st birthday I hired a community centre and got Tumble Tots to come and they was a good variety of ages of children and they catered for all ages .

It was my dd2's b'day 2 days ago ( where did the year go?). We gave her a present each day for 3 days before so she had something new to play with from presents she'd been given by family & friends and didn't get overwhelmed on the day. On Sunday we went for sunday lunch with her godparents (more for us than her really but why shouldn't we celebrate as well!). On her actual birthday we had a tea with her grandparents and she had a taste of b'day cake. I don't really see the point of much else at her age; it's nice to mark it but i wouldnt go to the expense of a party, tbh.

I'm with MamaGhoul - we invited our freinds round for a morning playdate - stuck some bagels, doughnuts, b-day cake, fruit & coffee on the table, blew up some balloons and played for a couple of hours. Was great - not too much mess, not expensive, no big fuss, just ds's usual friends & everyone had a great time.

My ds's 1st birthday was last month. We took him up to see my parents (coz he loves his nan!)and had a bit of a party for him. To jazz things up a bit I stuck sparklers in his birtday cake and sprayed silly string everywhere, which he found quite amusing!
