We're having a small Halloween party for around 6 x 6 year olds. Does anyone have any suggestions for simple Halloween games and crafts to keep them entertained?

Are any of these any good?

I don't have any off the top of my head, but have you tried looking on Pinterest? A lot of the stuff is American so there is likely to be a lot of suggestions and ideas that might help. Pinterest.com

Pin the hat/broomstick on the witch.
Blind Man's Buff.
Decorate a gingerbread man.

Apple bobbing, making cinder toffee and toffee apples, pumpkin carving competition, face painting each other as spooky creatures, making ghost bunting, piñatas always go down well.

Big bowl full of green jelly. Kids are blindfolded while they search through the jelly to find the zombie eyeballs (rubber balls).

Paper or cardboard pumpkin shapes that can be coloured in and decorated? You could use cut out shapes and glue as well?

In order:
donuts on strings - get small donuts with holes. cover in syrup & hang from strings. children must eat donut without using hands ==> sticky face

flour cake - make a 'sandcastle' with flour turned out of a small tupperware. balance a smartie on top. children take turns to cut edges of flour cake until the smartie falls down. whoever makes the smartie fall has to put their face in the flour to eat smartie ==> sticky flourly faces (like ghosts)

bobbing for apples ==> clean faces (finally!)

Get some plain cheap masks from The Works or somewhere similar and each child can decorate their own mask, spiders webs, zombie eyes etc. Get a few spare masks and decorate them yourself prior to the party, for any child who isn't happy with their own efforts.

We're doing a halloween treasure hunt for my son's 8th birthday party. I'm going to put clues around the house and hope they don't get bored before we feed them full of chicken nuggets

We're also going to have builing craft projects and get the kids to build haunted houses out of lego. for Last year's party we put loads of different sized boxes, polystyrene, colouring pens and stickers and and got the kids to make spaceships. Make loads of mess but it can all be dumped in the recycling bin when they've finished.

Morrisons have gingerbread bats that come with a tube of icing and sprinkle.

Make some chocolate pumpkin bowls by dipping a small balloon in candy melts, leave to dry, draw a pumpkin face on with icing and fill with little sweets. I found it on Pinterest but can't link on iPod.

A mummy competition. Buy a load of cheap loo roll, split the kids into pairs and get one to wrap the other in loo roll in a set time (30seconds to one minute) and whoever is wrapped up most wins.

Get some gel food colouring from a cake shop (they tend to work better than supermarket ones) and make some orange/green/red buns and top with green icing.

If you're dimming the lights there are balloons with little lights in which look brilliant when lit.

Pass the pumpkin/witches hat - like pass the parcel but when the music stops they get to fish a chocolate eyeball out of the pumpkin. (usually fill with shredded paper but you could use green jelly Grin )

Simple craft activities are often popular.

Outdoor treasure hunt with torches are fun too.
