How to do the sandwiches?

Silly question, but I've never done sandwiches for a party before! What does everyone else do?

I was thinking cheese and ham, with crust less bread if I can find it to save time.

We will be taking them to the venue, so what's the best time to do them? Party is at midday. First thing in the morning, or is late the previous night ok? What's the best way to wrap them up so they don't dry up?

Am I overthinking this?

Separate cheese and ham in case of vegetarians.
Novelty shapes are always popular, or little fingers.
Make them in the morning, put on serving plates, cover with cling film & put in fridge. This might get you out of blowing up balloons!

This is what I found out....
Picnics, brunches, and tea parties call for tea sandwiches, but those delicate bites tend to dry out in a flash. What's the solution? Dampen a paper towel, wring out any excess water, and cover the tops of the sandwiches before you store them in an airtight container and pop them into the fridge. The damp paper towel will keep the bread hydrated plus it acts as a protective barrier from the air. Keeping the tea sandwiches wrapped until the second you plan to serve or eat them will also prevent them from drying out.

Also, only butter one of the pieces of bread in case you have any who can't stand butter - they can just take that side off and fold the sarnie in half (not that I've had to do this numerous times for a fussy DS).
Jam always seems a popular option too...

I really wouldn't waste time or money on crustless sandwiches. Most kids will eat them when presented at a party and those that won't are perfectly able to eat up to the crusts!

Loving Snappy's tip too

If you're doing carrot sticks buy the ready made ones from the supermarket as they won't dry out until the bag is opened. The ones you cut yourself would need to be kept either under water or with a wet kitchen roll and totally airtight!
