Birthday party for six year old - does this sound about right?

I'm planning DDs 6th Birthday party ATM. She's not got a huge guest list, two girls and two boys plus big sister.

What I thought about was a disco and then party games when they arrive at 2pm, lasting until about 3 (we've also got an inflatable football game outside if the boys need to run off a bit more steam.

We're then planning to calm it down with some crafts (money box painting and cookie decorating) until 3-30 and then birthday tea until 4pm pick up.
Could anyone tell me if this seems about the right pace? I'm completely clueless about home parties.

My 5yo ds would like that.

Yes that sounds absolutely fine ......

Sounds fine but would perhaps invite more people as if any can't mike it you could end up with it feeling more like a play date than a party. Also party games and disco for an hour could be ambitious unless you are very skilled at keeping their attention

I would do disco and a couple of games, then crafts, then a few more games then food, otherwise you'll have them getting fidgety after the crafts and having to stay calm for food. Although depends on the 6yo - dd would be fine with what you have planned but others in her class are more lively :)

We've often done parties at home along these lines.(though often with a ridiculous number of kids…18 once!)

I think small can be beautiful wrt guest lists so long as they are all definites but would maybe add one or two more for critical mass (important for pass the parcel)

I tend to let them arrive an mingle over an activity (biscuit decorating often or crafts) because people don't all turn up at once, especially when you are at home. Then some games (treaure hunt/hide and seek good to spin things out) then food, and then dancing around to burn off the sugar (musical statues and multiple variations, they never seem to tire of this) Sometimes have another craft activity in reserve just in case, but also sometimes they like to go off and play especially if a small number.

I think going from games and dancing to quiet craft is harder to manage than the reverse.

Have a lot of fun, do less food than you think

Reporting back ........ It all went swimmingly.
We changed the running order so that the crafts came first, then had party games, food and more disco.
Kids left full of sugar and happy...DD2 is fast asleep.

Thanks all.
