We're hoping to have a smallish party at home for DD who will be turning 5.

She loves all things crafty, but I've never been terribly inventive. I'm hoping for some ideas please, to keep 6 (or 8) 4 and 5 year olds busy for a couple of hours!

It occurred to me that it might be a nice idea to decorate their own party bags, and them fill them with what they make. Then (apart from loads of stickers) I get stuck!

Also a few games, but maybe a bit of a change from pass the parcel and musical bumps Wink

Thanks.

Sounds lovely! My DDs love crafty parties- have a look at Baker Ross for inspiration- I got ceramic owl money banks and acrylic paint from them for a party and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of vast expense! All the party guests loved having something to do and take home (used hair dryer to dry owls before putting them in party bags ) Enjoy!

Agree with baker Ross. Did a craft party for my DD about 10 years ago with most stuff from there. As they finished what they were making, they put it in their party bag (great idea about decorating the bags, damn, why didn't I think of that ?) so long ago, I can't remember all that we did but included key rings, masks, book marks, sun catchers. If we'd had it at home with a smaller number (we had a lot of guests so hired a hall), I'd have done pizzas letting them add their own toppings and cupcake decorating.

Thanks so much for the Baker Ross recommendation, the website looks brilliant! Loads of ideas flying around now Smile

Also, are there any games (apart from the obvious ones I mentioned above) that you've tried and have been a big hit?

sleeping lions is a great calming-them-down game!

Mars bar game - not calming at all so maybe need sleeping lions afterwards!!!

Baker Ross and Yellow Moonare great for crafty stuff for parties. Some simple games afterwards like musical statues always seem to go down well at my DS and little cousins parties regardless of children's ages.

My girls painted 'stained glass windows' once.

Sheets of plastic with a pattern on, like a colouring book. Kit came with paints, and ribbon and a hook sucker so they could put them up.

They went down a treat. Got them from Wilkies.
