DD is 2 in a couple of weeks. She had loads of stuff for Xmas so doesn't need anything but still want to get a few bits as well as put money in her bank account.

She is Mickey Mouse mad and loves all the wooden toys for posting, threading, putting in holes etc (she has a postbox, mini work bench and stacking things).

Any suggestions much appreciated TIA.

melissa & doug do some nice wooden things - like crates of wooden play food. you could get some of those & make a market stall (or ikea have a cardboard one)

thanks. I have been looking at the food. Found some lovely wooden ice-lollies.

Does she have a toy kitchen? Or a scooter?

MyNameIsKenAdams · 17/01/2014 18:48

dd turned two just before christmas and the most successful gifts were the ikea play kitchen, a hobby horse and a box of dressing up stuff

She has loads of her big sister's dressing up stuff which she loves. She'd love a kitchen but just have too many big toys and she has to share her room. Not sure she'd manage a scooter just yet but might visit ToysRUs to try one out. Also DD1 has a hobby horse which she shares. Thanks

A tuff spot. It's a big plastic tray for small world play. You can create different 'worlds' with playsilks, felt and natural materials. They are available on Amazon and you can get lots of ideas on Pinterest.

My favourite world is polar! I use white, dark blue and light blue silks & felts with a block of ice (pop a large Tupperware of water in the freezer for 24 hours). Add animals (Schliech, Holztiger, etc.) Play! Grin

Obviously, you can do a farm, a zoo, etc. or a book like We're Going on a Bear Hunt.

We got my 2.5 year old the melissa and Doug wooden cutting food for Xmas, it velcros together and comes with a knife and chopping board. She absolutely adores it, I'd say it's been one of the most played with things she had.

mumnosbest · 17/01/2014 19:45

Thanks stargirl we use them at school and they are fab. A cheaper option is Home Bargains pet trays. They're big and durable. I've been looking at these. She had a wooden velcro sandwich set for Christmas and loved that so I'M SURE IT WOULD BE A HIT.

My DD also got the velcro cutting food for Christmas, which she loves. We got it because previously she was given the wooden lolly set you mentioned up thread, which has been the absolute top toy for MONTHS.

If you are thinking of that I would go for it.

She also lived her "scoot scoot" though, I am surprised how well she managed it.

TinTinsSexySister · 17/01/2014 19:52

Loved, not "lived" obviously Confused

blackandwhiteandredallover · 17/01/2014 19:54

stargirl, I love that idea! I might get one for things like putting the playmobil swimming pool in, playing with moonsand etc. Brilliant!

lljkk · 17/01/2014 19:56

An ice cream.
Honest. That's all.
She was delighted.

blackandwhiteandredallover · 17/01/2014 21:51

Oh, or a helium balloon in a box. Did this for DD on her 5th birthday, the look on her face!! It lasted for weeks and everyone who came to the house was asked immediately 'do you want to see my balloon?' Grin

mumnosbest · 20/01/2014 09:35

Thanks all, think we are sorted. I've gone for the lolly set and Wilkos do a wooden velcro sandwich set (less pricey). Might also do the balloon in a box :)
