Is a 1.5 hr party odd?

I have entertainment booked for 1hr.

I am then going to feed DC, which I'm guessing will take 30 mins, even if I throw in a couple of party games.

Do I have to do a 2 hour party, or will 1.5hr be OK?

I think 1hr 30mins is ideal, we do sports parties at work and although in theory the parents get one hour activity and one hour party area, food etc,a whole hour for eating and a few games always ends in chaos

Would any of you be offended/annoyed if your DC was invited to a 1.5 hour long party?

Will they travel far?

How old are the children?

that length is fine as long as people are travelling far. depending on where it is i would maybe end up having to stay or are therr attractions/shops locally so oatents can drop and run and say go do thr shopping whilst party is on?

Bear in mind that there will be arriving and present handing over and getting from entertainment to eating and loo breaks and party bags and finding shoes and so on- I would go for 2 hours if I were you....stuff always takes longer than you think. Except for the times it takes ludicrously shorter than you think! But it's almost always longer.....

I wouldn't mind at all, but I would be surprised, round here parties last 2.5 hrs - 3.5 hrs (for 2-4 yr olds ages anyway)

But I do live in a very naice area where parties are big silly events and the presents are massive and the party bags are nonsense! It gets quite silly and everything buys the party entertainers/ packages from a couple of places so its all quite standardised too. I recycle presents at the parties and haven't even opened the last few from Ds birthday 4 months ago! He gets fraught and awful when faced with excess even though i spread the presents over days.

Soooo, I don't know what your local 'party culture' is, but even if it's similiar to ours, I suspect many mums/ parents would find it refreshing to be short and sweet.

My group of friends do a standard 3-4 hour party with siblings and parents so it is a longer drawn out affair. Nobody turns up on time in the Asian community which is why the parties go on for a bit longer. Also, I don't like the big mad rush to get the kids fed, party games done & cake cut in 90 mins. Just not enjoyable & too stressful for me.

1,5 hour parties standard here for 3 - 5 yr olds

I am thinking of doing a 1.5 hr party myself, for 7 yr olds I think it's fine and quite standard here- most walk to our house so not an issue
