It was DD's 4th birthday party yesterday and she had a lovely time. It seemed to go very well and nearly everyone commented how much fun there children had had whilst there.

The party boxes for the food went down very well. The parents seemed very impressed with them and all thought they were a great idea. It was ideal as, typically, the children ate varying amounts, so were able to take their remaining food, plus extra buns/cakes home, for their suppers.

Bouncy castle was by far the most exciting attraction. Even some of the dads, Dh included, got a chance to have a go! DH was suffering a bit this morning where some of the little boys had been diving on him on the castle. That'll serve him right!

The craft time went down well with those wanting a bit of quiter activity. Lots of glue and sticky bits a plenty!

The boys, and a couple of the girls enjoyed playing football :) And again the dads got really involved there. LOL

The littler ones enjoyed a bit of parachute play in the middle of the room.

And the disco played all of DD's favourite tunes. Think some of the mums quite enjoyed that too, saw some of them jiggling about ia bit whilst stood chatting :D

Completely forgot to play pin the flag on the castle or get the bubbles out!

My wonderful sister baked so many buns and cakes for the children and adults alike. They were so yummy and there were a fair few left over, as she had done literally tons. Got everyone to take some home in their goody bags :) The malteser cake was a massive success with the grown ups. The children didn't get a look in on that!

The palace cake from Waitrose looked really pretty, but DD got all shy at the time for singing happy Birthday, so we did it really quickly and let her blow her candles out as quick as possible, to spare her shyness.

Thank you so much to Katz and her DH for staying and helping us tidy up, and coming early to help prepare.

DD got some lovely, lovely presents. She is a lucky little girl! She also has some really nice little friends. They seemed to all get on so well and nicely together, and all looked to be having a great time.

Felt very happy yesterday, and DD kept telling me after how lovely her day had been and how much she had enjoyed herself Grin

Hula, looks lovely and sounds like she had a great time, bless her.
Did all the parents stay? This is an age where I have found it starts to waver.
Having said that I left DD on her own (as opposed to with DS1) at a party for the first time the other week and she's 5 in the summer!

Yes, the parents all stayed. The invites we sent out did really encourage this though, and siblings were invited to join in too. We provided food boxes for siblings, and provided lots of food for adults, and also hot and cold drinks. Many of the parents knew each other, especially the nursery lot, so I think they enjoyed the chance to chat and catch up.

I really didn't fancy having to supervise all those children, especially with a bouncy castle and in such a large hall.

for hazlinh

Not that organised! Parents were there to supervise their own children, plus extra adults (grandparents of DD) wandering around.

It was a large sports hall. At the near end we had the bouncy castle and the side of that the disco playing music loudly! Half way down the hall we had the craft table. Centre of the hall was the parachute and balloons. Far end was the football bet and a couple of balls.

Food was served mid way through on picnic blankets and in food boxes.

We were lucky that one of DH's collaegues is a DJ and amatuer magician (no magic yesterday!) as well as a solicitor. He did the disco for us for free as he is so lovely. DD wrote hima thank you and we got him a presie though.
