I'm having my 2 dds christened on Easter sunday, with tea back at our house. I'd like to do an easter egg hunt in the garden (weather providing) for the kids. How does this work - never done one! where to get the little baskets? where to get chicks to decorate table?
any other nice ideas for the day? (that don't cost the earth or take loads of time - i like crafty things though so won't be put off by anything like that)

I was in a cake decorating shop yesterday which was practically overrun with little yellow chicks.

You could make little baskets out of card without too much trouble, I would have thought. Esp if you like crafty things.

As a christening suggestion, I have made an album for each of mine with a selection of photos, cards, and messages from people who were there on the day for them to treasure (?!) when they are older. Leave out some small pieces of paper and pens and encourage people to write something down or draw a picture if they prefer (or are children).

Hobbycraft have lots of Easter stuff - inccluding bonnets to decorate - one of those could make a good table decoration. They also have packs of smallish plastic eggs which you can put things in. If you wanted to cut down on chocolate you could use those for your easter egg hunt? \link{http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/special_pages/easter/index.htm\hobbycraft}

thanks - some lovely ideas here. sadly, no hobbycraft near where we live but might have a gander round our craft and pound shops for stuff like this.
love the album idea.

woolworths have got six free plastic eggs when you buy a large cup (£2.99) of pic n mix which you can then use to fill it. just bought some as it looks so staright forwards. also had other egg hunt things like stickers baskets etc. have fun!

It's quite easy to make baskets out of card, or margarine tubs. Chicks can be made out of yellow pom poms, then stick eyes and beak on. Or if you don't want to make baskets, I expect a florist would have some. Or John Lewis have rabbit ones for £2.

tescos got loads of decorating / craft stuff that you could adapt - they've even got crayon shaped easter eggs in packs of 3 for 99p - a different idea of hiding chocolate eggs. they've got easter crackers etc as well. they also "egg hunt" tins of eggs.

a simple paper bag - cut out two same sized circles, fold in half, then fit together to make it look like a heart, stick edges to each other, add a 2in strip as a handle - decorate in easter style.

The Works (well ours) are selling plastic easter bonnets - 99p or £1.99 - could get one of these and decorate with eggs, chicks etc etc as a table centre piece.
