DD's 1st birthday party ideas (December)

So. I know it'll be "wasted" on her as she's so little but I would like to do something for DD's 1st birthday in the first week of December... But - I'm totally clueless as to what to do! Our flat isn't big enough to host it here...

Our NCT gang are getting together the week before to celebrate at a local soft play place (just us, no GPs or other friends), so doing that again seems pointless....

DD is invited to a Baby Sensory party in November - could we copy? What other similar "classes" do parties? We only went to Jo Jingles once and DD cried (was just after her jabs though).

Writing a quick list of guests gives me 25 babies Shock plus parents.

Help! Need to get sorted soon what with it being so close to Christmas.

Damn. I was determined for DD's birthday not to be a wash out due to December shite weather / Christmas looming but feel I'm struggling at the first hurdle Blush Sad!

I would split it up. Do something with your NCT friends. Maybe organise a joint trip out somewhere for all the babies' birthdays and combined it with Christmas? That will take the pressure off all of you then! Or a trip somewhere else (pub?) and bring a cake.

Something with your family, like a little party at the weekend. Two hours isn't too long for older (family) kids to hang around in your house, especially with the promise of nice food and cake, and cbeebies or a film on the TV. Maybe think about investing in some older toys for your daughter to grow in to that the older kids could play with during the party?

My friend had a open house day for her son's first birthday. She invited her baby friends at 12pm, friends with older kids at 2pm, family at 4pm, and drinking buddies at 6pm. (Well something like that!) She said it worked well for her.

Had 100 people, hired venue, party planners, entertainment, serving staff etc.

But we had been trying to have children for 5 long years and this was our celebration of having children at last. And we didn't have a christening so this was our big welcome to our babies.

It was fantastic, lots of champagne , a really wonderful day.

I think hiring a hall and having baby sensory or similar is lovely. You can have cake at home any time -celebrate your baby being one with all the people you want these and have a fantastic time. Why wouldn't you?!

Love the fireworks idea (makes mental note)
