Is this something you would want at an under 5s party?

I teach pre school music classes, of the very educational, every activity done for a reason type (rather than the put music on loud and let children go for it type).

Recently I have been asked to do a couple of birthday parties (oddly not for my regulars - but for people who have picked up a brochure and held onto it for a while).

So I thought I would see if this is something that I could grow or if it's a fluke. So far I am doing an animal party and a teddy bears picnic. I'm toning down the educational aspect and upping the entertainment factor.

So is it something you would spend money on?

she had several themes that you could choose from: Fairy, disco, space... I can't remember any others atm.

found it :) Merrykids (Kids Party Capsules Ltd). Her address details can be found on Yellowpages but it doesn't look like she has a website. I think that she is busy enough just from word of mouth.

It may have been the right lady as the other fairy lady was there too advertising her fairy place - isn't it great that she can turn being actually quite strange into a career? (the shop lady not the other one)

I've got my first testimonial for the brochure and it's lovely.

xxxx (3) has tried out several music groups with little success - they are usually too big, too unstructured... threebob's classes are much more than just a 'singalong', and xxxx is loving learning real musical concepts such as rhythm and pitch, along with favourites such as the parachute and rainbow ring..in fact, he's very sad when the half hour comes to an end. I knew we were onto a winner this time when he said " I don't want to leave!" at the end of the first class!

We are so glad to have finally found a class that "fits"!

Oh, threebob ... do you know anyone like you in Auckland? I used to take DS to JoJingles in the UK and then was gutted that toddler music here was 'Mainly Music' and the usual free for all singalong with the mums just there for the chat factor ... needless to say, we didn't do much of that. I have tried Mainly Music this time with DD and I still don't like it ... packed with no structure.
I need someone like you!

And the sad part is I'm not massively more expensive than Mainly Music (unless you have triplets - and I'm sure I could work something out if someone did have.)

Actually somebody came today to see why I was $4 per class when Mainly Music is a gold coin donation. She did seem to "get it" when her ds took part in all the activities and was even witnessed smiling.

I will ask Julie Wylie if anyone good has moved to Auckland.

Thanks threebob, I would really appreciate that Smile

I've asked Julie and she says she knows a few good people and will send me the names - I may have to remind her though - so I hope there is no great hurry!

Space and wild west are excellent ideas and I can see how I would have the materials for that. I'll think about the fairy and pirate some more.

Threebob, you know Julie Wylie?

I may have my wires crossed but I was looking at one of her books the other day :)

threebob · 25/03/2006 19:36

Had a coffee with her yesterday, and she even paid. I fill in for her classes sometimes.

Wow, I was considering buying "Dancing in a Circle" but I can't find it here :(

Do you know it?

threebob · 25/03/2006 20:01

Dancing in a Circle is excellent I use it all the time, especially Shoo fly with the parachute. I am sure that Julie would send you a copy if you email her. She's sending a whole heap to Singapore this week.

Just don't say a strange lady on the internet told you - I do like to be at least slightly anonymous.
