Children's Party Thank Yous

DD had her 5th birthday party about 10 days ago. Quite a few of the mums have sent thank you notes saying how much their children enjoyed the party. I can understand a note to thank the host/hostess of a dinner party, but TBH - it would never occur to me to send a thank you note for a children's party.

Am I unspeakably rude, or are these mums extra polite? Do you send notes thanking the hosts of children's parties?

No it would never occour to me either.

It is a nice idea though.

It is a nice idea. However I have never done one. have sent an e-mail after to a parent after a party/play session to say thanks though. Normaly do it in person on way out of party though, and get DD to do the same.

I've never thought of doing that (but do say thank you when we leave)

It's a nice idea but I've never gone that far. I do usually make a point of thanking the parents if I run into them at school or elsewhere shortly afterwards - you know, appreciative comments about venue, hope the hostlet enjoyed themselves. But have never written.
You obviously do a seriously good party Earlybird. Did you rent out Hamleys Grin

As Marina says, what a tribute to the party!! It's not the norm at all.

In the context of the wild reaches of politeness, this year we had three or four thankyou notes for our Christmas card (made by dh, and he did do a beautiful job though I say it as shouldn't).

in fact, of course, the norm is "thankyouforhavingme WHERE'S MY PARTY BAG"
