Tupperware party equivalent??

What is the 2012 equivalent of the old Tuppaware party? Eg getting a few girls round, glass of wine etc? Ann Summers potentially too tasteless for my guests, and Jamie's earning too much as it is.

Have you been to any good ones lately? Wine tasting perhaps?

Selling parties generally make me shudder and politely find a reason not to go. I would just invite them round without the pressure to buy stuff and have the wine anyway.

People do papmper parties, which are much nicer - everyone chucks in £x and a therapist comes out and people have a pedicure or facial or whatever whilst sitting around glugging wine and sharing gossip. That way, everyone knows what they are paying upfront and no pressure to buy anything.

Both great ideas, thanks ladies. I'm also uncomfortable with the 'selling' idea, but was looking for an excuse to invite a group round. You're right, drinking wine is probably good enough!

Yes, I definitely got fed up of various 'spend all your money' parties as did my girlfriends. We just do 'girlie nights' ( not as twee as it sounds!). No excuse needed.

Depending on numbers, how busy we are etc, we either cook - a course each, pot luck or just nibbles. What is definite however, is loads of lovely wineGrin

Pampered chef parties are good fun.

I heart my book club - I first went when ds was six weeks old (took him in his car seat) and he's about to start year 4 Smile Have read some fantastic books and had great laughs.
