Still debating what to do for ds's 3rd birthday, smalliish house, older dd1+2 keen to come so might need to be a weekend party so will mean big siblings. Invite list is 4 2/3yr olds, plus birthday boy and up to 8 siblings including mine (mainly 5 and 7yr olds).

Was thinking of giving buckets to fit in with dinosaurs and archeology type theme and has nothing to do with the poundland ones gathering dust in the shed after his christening , plus will be some other prizes accumulated in the party.

How would your dc feel if they got them as a joint party bag, or if older ones got something different? I am considering making it weather dependent at the park but at home another time if wet actually I haven't a clue what to do about all the siblings so don't want loads of spare party bag stuff.

my dc would argue about the contents of a joint party bag. You can usually get party bags for £1 in poundland or similar - get them one each adn just put some sweets and a bit of cake in - doesn't need to cost a lot. giving older ones something different I think is fine.

I wouldn't.

My 3 would argue about who got to hold the bag, how the person holding the bag wasn't doing it right, who got what in the bag...

Even if the bag was just cake and sweets, definitely do individual ones.

Different bags for older children would be fine though.

Ok, maybe I can find some other bits, am my own worst enemy as I hate just giving a plastic bag of tat.

instead of tat then - buy mugs/water bottles, fill with sweets and give instead?
mugs and water bottles cheap at pounland (2 x water bottles for £1)

Old fashioned sweet bags, like the ones we had when we got the one penny sweets! eBay sell them, pink stripe or blue stripe. Then, fill with sweets! That's all kids want.
