Its Dd's 9 th birthday very soon & I'm out of ideas what to buy her.

She wants a pillow pet (which I won't buy unless 1 appears for £1!) but other than that, thought she wanted money.

Now she is thinking that she won't have any presents to open on her b'day. We've bought her a Cath Kidston bag, Build a Bear clothes & Now 80 cd, but literally run out of ideas.

I thought she might like her ears pierced, I was desperate at her age, but shown no interest so keeping quiet on that front !

She like arts & crafts (but won't sew/learn to knit/do jigsaws), likes Build a Bear, doesn't like reading...just bounces around a lot of the time ! Which is handy when we're out walking the dog..

marysbeard and.... ? Did you even read my earlier posts ref school bag ?

quirrelquarrel great ideas thanks - I'm loving the crystal idea & she has shown an interest in them before, so will explore that & the good colouring pencils. C'aran d'ache (sp) used to be good in my day.

Every year I buy her a box set of books, but she can't/wont get in to them. We've tried the killer cat by Anne Fine, but was horrible reading (we have a cat!)

We also have a dog, so no more pets !

I'm off to investigate the pillow from shared earth Grin

DS got a DSi for his 8th birthday (today).
Have a feeling your budget is a lot higher than mine, though.
Marbles.

Oh sorry- it's a cushion cover. We have a purple one in the living room.

Might she like DVDs of ballets- Giselle is 'showy' and pretty to watch and the second part is v. impressive.

Or maybe one of those NatGeo photo books of '100 best places in the world' or whatever, with a scrapbook and glue so she can cut the pictures she likes out. I think the books are about £20 though.

DD is going to be 9, so the budget is appropriate, she has 2 sets of grandparents, so that's about £50 (in total from them) & a main pressie from us (bag + about £20). I was also considering a magazine subscription (with my tesco vouchers [GRIN])

She is having a party at home, where she is doing arts & crafts & bit of cake or biscuit icing.

Not sure where I might be giving impressions of high budget ?

Aren't DS's over £100 ?

Will look at Giselle dvd. Looked at a Giselle book in the charity shop just the other day & it was lovely, illustrated by Emma Chichester-Clark...after a quick flick through, thought it looked a bit gruesome &/or sad (I'm not familiar with the story), but might go back & buy it on Monday

Adele Geras is the author of the Giselle book I saw...damn it...wish I'd bought it now ! And I've just recalled she enjoys the Madonna English Roses...so another option..will be covered for xmas now Grin

DD also loves the Barbie ballet DVD'S, Swan Lake etc, is the a similar one for Giselle ? On Amazon they look a bit grown-up..

How about a girls day out, shopping and lunch?

2nd hand DSi + games, Willow, & bargain hunting on Ebay Wink.

Cath Kidston bag, Build a Bear clothes & Now 80 cd,

I was guessing that lot added up to at least £40 & you were still hunting for a much nicer "main" present, iyswim. I didn't know if DSi was a silly suggestion, or not. Someone on another thread was asking about Aquila mag, seems to get praised a lot on here.

Love bargain hunting on eBay ! That's where dd2's b'day pressie has come from Wink

Yes, think you summed it up there nicely. My DM is keen is buy the CK bag too, which means DD doesn't get a main pressie from us....yet..

Lots of great ideas though & i wonder if it was me asking about Aquila as I posted about magazine subscriptions..

I thought it said Etsy originally and was nodding in agreement- but then it's eBay. But Etsy is good too!

I wonder how many masterpieces have been made by this sort of 'plagiarism'- like hearing a tune faintly and thinking it's completely different from what it really is- and then when you find out, you adopt the tune you think you heard as your own. And making a million.
Well, there's my useless Sunday thought for you!
