Help please :)
Ok, so I'm hosting a joint party for 3 of my sons in May. (one will be 15, one 4 and one 9 - in case you wondered, the 9 year olds always falls during the Easter hols so i am letting him join this one!) So we have a bit of a plan
BBQ (hopefully!)
Trampoline up inthe garden
Giant Jenga - teens and 9 year old group
Pin the tail on the donkey/dinosaur (depending on my drawing!) - little ones
Pass the parcel - little ones (although i bet the teens join in lol)
xbox in the conservatory (older ones, only have 2 controllers so small competitions)
now, we need to keep them occupied for a few hours, yes food will be included, we dont have much space so looking for other suggestions
so far am taken with the "flour" game and the whipped cream with malteasers in that you have to remove with your teeth. (again both more for the teens) we cant do any running about games as space in the garden will be at a premium.
Suggestions please?

we recently played a different version of pass the parcel aimed at teens but my 9yr old enjoyed it too.

basically you send two parcels round the circle - each parcel must have opposite prizes and forfeits in them - i.e. parcel one start prize, forfeit prize and parcel two forfeit, prize, forfeit. the idea being that when music stops one person opens a prize and one person a forfeit.

the prize is a haribo etc.

the forfeit is one of three things -

  1. dress in gloves, hat, scarf and cut up squares of choco from a big bar with a knife and fork.
  2. use a straw and get maltesers into a cup
  3. use chopsticks to move rainbow sugar puffs into a cup.

you rotate the forfeit option throughout the layers.

the three plates are set up in the middle of the circle with a stack of paper cups to transfer the winnings into.

the person that gets the forfeit gets the time it takes for the next person to get a forfeit (i.e. when the music stops again). they must put their winnings in the cup and not eat as they go.

obviously you could change the forfeits, but playing the traditional pass the parcel with the 4yr olds and this version with the older ones might keep them all occupied at the same time.

There's a brilliant book called parlour games for modern families.

We have recently done the potato game. You can do it individually or in teams. You blindfold people, empty a large bag of potatoes onto the floor and they have to pick them up, with the person who has the most winning. If in teams the team shouts encouragement and directions and when the player has picked up a spud he comes back and the next player is blindfolded. We had ages 14 to 4 in teams.

We also did team treasure hunts. You buy long lengths of ribbon and the team had to hold on to their ribbon. Scatter clues all round the place and make some of them people related eg who would like to play rugger for england. Give a teen or adult to each team.

The keys under a chair sat on by a blindfolded person with everyone else sitting round in silence is also good. Someone is chosen to retrieve them and has to go round really quietly round the ring, finally getting to them. If the person on the chair points to where the person is, the chair has won.
