Not been to one, but read a leaflet in our local one once. The children get to make up their own pizzas with whatever toppings they choose - I think.

Never been but have been in pizza express when they were having one once and they were having a ball, it looked really good fun!

My DD had her 6th in Pizza Hut. Make your own Pizza. I think at 6 they were just a little to young for the make a Pizza though as it takes a while and they got bored.

I would just go for normal party and take extra games/ pencils/ clouring books to amuse them until food arrives unless they have space for games it all has to be table top, perhaps a kind of bingo. If it is local some of the kids may be regulars and already fed up with the paks given out by the pizza place.

DD went to a 5th birthday party at Pizza Express in central London a few weeks ago. The party was held just after school (3.30 - 5.30), and the group had the entire downstairs of the restaurant. The kids had lots of fun, and ate pizza and dough balls for supper. Entertainment and cake both brought in/arranged/paid separately by the Mum. Never heard of Pizza Express having party activities available - I always thought it was simply a space that could be rented out. But maybe I'm wrong...

can't imagine that a group of 5 year old boys wouldn't prefer somewhere to play actively than to sit in a restaurant and make pizza .. but then I don't know your child (and mine doesnt particularly like pizza but does like making it)

I say this as the mother of one who is having his party in a school gym

I think its a great idea if they're older

My DS (7) went to one recently. They really loved making the pizzas, but I must be honest, when I can back to collect, the dad was having to do all sorts of noisy games in a small corner to keep them entertained. The other diners sat trying to ignore a bunch of baying and shrieking small boys! I would have hated to be in there at the time. Saying that, I think it's a brilliant place for a family meal. But I wouldn't choose a party there, not until they're much older.

I was a bit wry about taking a grup of kids TBH, my kids are used to eating out and will happily sit and chat or draw until meals arrive. Not all kids at 5/6 are the same though.

I was blissfully unaware for about 2 mins that the three kids I was tutting at for running around the restruant were actually with my DD's party . Rounded them up and pinned them to there chairs, DS age 9 galantly tried to play a sort of eyespy game with them while I consoled the child that was ill (dropped off ill), waiting for his mum to come rushing back (25mins) after I rang the contact number she left 4 times and had to leave a message on.

Next time I will limit it to about 5 or 6 kids and put more thought into tabletop activities .

I saw a party of girls of about 10-12 years at our local one and they loved it and behaved very well as they loved the idea of being grown up. It was very sweet and not disrupting at all.

Ideal for that age group i think, 5/6 year olds just want to play at parties.
