What sandwiches for 4 yo party - on Saturday so urgent please!!!

My 4yo ds won't eat any sandwiches and so I'm not really sure if what i've thought are suitable - I was thinking of cheese sandwiches, ham sandwiches and maybe egg mayo?

In addition we'll do sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, cheese biscuits, crisps, carrott and cucumber batons, cherry toms, rice krispie cakes, cheese/pineapple, chocolate fingers and jelly.

Have I missed anything???

Please help!

Sounds great to me, but the egg sarnies never seem to get eaten

Valpollicella · 15/03/2012 19:50

Cheese spread and marmite

Not sure I would do egg mayo...I'd probably do some jam ones instead Grin

Think all the reast sounds great

Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2012 19:51

That all sounds about right, I would probably ditch the egg mayo TBH. Jam perhaps? You got drinks sorted? Something not spillable. Capri Sun?

Stinkyfeet · 15/03/2012 19:51

Yes, ditch the egg sandwiches- do jam instead! The rest all sounds fine.

BiltongandBoerewors · 15/03/2012 19:51

Ham, cheese, jam and Nutella. Staple sarnies at all the kids parties we go to.

curiousparent · 15/03/2012 19:52

Wow CMOT that was quick thanks!

Mmm interesting re the egg sarnies - I myself hate egg sarnies but I thought they were obligatory at kids parties Grin

Do you think just 2 sorts of sarnies are ok then? or is that tight?

Excellent thanks all you lovely MNers, super fast responses! (x-post everyone!)

My husband said Jam but I didn't know if they were 'in' nowadays or not!

Yes sparkling have fruit shoots and waters in individual bottles sorted.

Are you having the party at home?

DaisyAndConfused · 15/03/2012 20:00

Philadelphia cream cheese sandwiches went down well at my 4 yo party. Also I used hearts and stars cookie cutters to shape them - made them slightly more interesting and more likely to be eaten before they all dived at the junk food.

Have fun!

curiousparent · 15/03/2012 20:03

No sparkling bouncy castle at local leisure centre.

Daisy have got a 'gingerbread man' a heart and a stars cutter (I often use them on toast for DS!). I did try to find a butterfly one as well but a lot of them are sooo expensive but thanks for tip!

I'd forget the sandwiches and do pizza instead - mine are 9 and 11 now and still always ask for pizza - NOT SANDWICHES MUM!!! - every party.....

Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2012 20:05

Have you got to do teas and coffees for the parents?

Used to love the Leisure Centre parties. Hour on the bouncy castle, half an hour for the party tea then home for Wine. Grin

bibbityisaporker · 15/03/2012 20:06

Oooh, no, you must do the egg mayo sandwiches - the mums and dads who have to wait around will have them!

pinkyp · 15/03/2012 20:08

Not Nutella (thinking of allergies) jam, ham and cheese sound great Smile

curiousparent · 15/03/2012 20:09

No there are no facilities to make drinks for parents but they can buy them from the cafe. I was also going to put some french stick etc out so they can also have something to eat.

It all sounds great is your DS v excited?

CurrySpice · 15/03/2012 20:28

Forget sandwiches. No 4yo will miss them at a party. Pizza instead - can be served cold too

acsec · 15/03/2012 20:28

Make fairy bread - sliced white bread spread with marg and sprinkled with 100s and 1000s, then use cookie cutters to cut shapes - best thing ever!!

curiousparent · 15/03/2012 20:37

Yes he is!

I just hope it all goes ok now!

It will be great, and the feeling of relief when it's all done is fabulous. Grin

Valpollicella · 15/03/2012 20:50

Love the jame sandwich x posts Grin

Have a great time

curiousparent · 15/03/2012 21:18

Yes me too - I couldn't even do my first response before the numerous jam sandwich recommendations came flooding in!

Thanks all!
