Makeover party for 6 yr olds

When I say Makeover I mean pretty glittery face-paints, glitter tattoes, nail varnish and colourful hairpieces. Not proper grown-up make-up. It would be a small party for up to 10 friends at home. The girls will all be 6.

Do you think this is okay for 6 year old girls or do you think other Mums might frown upon it?

We did the whole inviting the entire class, hiring a hall and having an entertainer last year and I would like to have something more intimate (and less expensive) for DD's party this year.

I'm not sure about frowning upon it (although personally I don't like tatoos); I'm just not sure whether they would fully appreciate it at that age. I think my dd who is nearly 7 would get a bit bored, say when you are doing all the other girl's nails. We do sometimes paint their nails, but even doing two girls is about all they can sit around for. When they are 8 or 9 I'm sure they will love it. It depends how many helpers you have, but you could find that the child you are doing and have just done are fine, but the others are running around smudging their nails. Make sure you get fast drying stuff!

Why not get pizza bases and get them to add their own tomato, cheese and toppings, and then ice some fairy cakes (can buy them if you don't want to bake), - that's the food sorted, and then have a few hair pieces and some glitter face gel which they can put on each other. At that age, esp with 10 you need to occupy some of them a fair bit yourself, in a year or two they will be easier and you might get away with smaller numbers. Dd will be 7 and she is just having 3 friends and planning a bit more playing time with them.

It wouldn't be me doing it. I have found a lady that comes to your house and actually hosts the party. So I would be available to help with other activities. I had actually thought about decorating cup cakes too. And there would be music and dancing games too.

I do think that 10 might be a bit too many (the lady said that she can do the make-up for up to 10) and I think DD only has about 5 girls that she wants to invite so that might work out better.

Sounds like fun to me. My DD will be 5 this year and just wants to invite the girls from her class - we also had a large party last y in village hall. Thought I would have princess dressing up/dancing and like the idea of face paints/ nail varnish. May need several adults to coordinate different activities though to stop them getting bored or messing up my DD's bedroom!
