Hi there, I did do party bags for my sons 1st birthday it only had abit of cake a little toy and some choc in it.

Personally I wouldn't bother having a party for a one year old. I have just had a little tea 'party' with the family and a birthday cake. They don't know it's their birthday so the party would really be for you, which is fine, it's lovely that you want to celebrate and have pictures to put in your family album. Personally, if you do decide to go ahead I wouldn't bother with party bags either, the other children won't expect them.

I did party bags of a crayon, a washable marker, and an Ella's kitchen biscuit for ds's 1st bday.

No.

Although saying that I think we sent every child home with a helium balloon (only 4 or 5 close friends so not a big expense, more of a thank you for coming type of gesture)

I went to a first party today and the party bag had a tube of bubbles, some organix crisps and a slice of cake for me on there :) it was great

I put in a little bath toy, a piece of cake and a Thornton's chocolate bar for the mums. We had two parties, one for family and friends and one for all the mums and babies that we'd met, but it was only the second one where I did party bags. It was definitely something to be celebrated IMO.

Definitely!

My sons 1st birthday party bags consisted of:
A piece of cake.
A personalised thank you card.
A white chocolate number 1 lollipop wrapped and tagged with message.
Stickers (jungle- the theme)
Puzzle (also jungle)
Mini Bubbles (with sticker of my sons face on)
General sweet eggs
Animal biscuits

At the end of the day LOs 1st birthday is a milestone and wont be having another big party until at school age so was happy to splash out a bit.

Only if you want to (and I wouldn't as organising a party is enough work). I would be surprised to be given a party bag at a birthday party at DD's age and a lot of the parents I know wouldn't share the goodies with the DC anyway.

Bunbaker · 18/12/2011 19:45

I wouldn't bother. If you have other tiny children there the parents might not be overjoyed to get a bag full of sweets/cakes/biscuits for their children. If DD had been given the party bag at age one from FrankiDon I'm afriid I would have removed all the sweet stuff.

We didn't have a party for DD until she was 3.
