everybody i invited said they would come.... which is nice of course, but i purposely invited more people because i thought that some would not come...
Nowi have about 20 parents and 15 children coming....
i said it would be cake only... but how much cake do i need?
and only cake or also other snacks? (im planning some haribo for the kids)
and waht about drinks?
its a 3 years old bday... so orange juice and apple juice and water for the kids. cordial?
what about the adults?
i had originally bought 4 bottles of fizzy wine but erm... thats clearly not going to be enough for 3 hours!!
still white and red wine? beers? it just seems odd to have too much alcohol at a child bday party, yet i know people really enjoy alcoholic drinks... how much of what do you reckon?

I've never wanted, or been offered for that matter, a glass of anything alcoholic at a childs party, esp a toddlers party. I never expect adult nibbles either.

What time is this party taking place?
I'm thinking that I'd personally offer a carrot / cucumber stick or 2 rather than a bag of haribo.

Really?? Every single bday party i have been to, we had alcohol and very often sweets.

Any suggestions on cake and childrens drinks then?

Why do you need an alcoholic drink? I love my booze but it's a kids party. Why do parents need to be offered booze? Sorry, don't get it. What time is this party?
I also don't see bowls of sweets at parties. Kids WIN sweets sometimes but they are not left for kids to help themselves to.

Cake wise, I'd do a main birthday cake and then if there are 15 kids coming I'd do 15 fairy / cupcakes. But I'd also offer a kiddie sarnie, some fruit etc.
Drink wise I'd do a big jug of orange squash and a big jug of blackcurrant and also have a jug or 2 of just water.

I always have wine/beer for adults at our kids parties, though I know it's not usual. We have adults who come who don't have kids, we don't entertain at home in our tiny flat, so our DD's birthday is a little more than a kiddies party. Having said that it's not a piss up and a glass or two will suffice. I find most parents accept a glass of wine or a beer thankfully too! I also offer tea/coffee/soft drinks.

I always provide food for adults and kids - though clearly this is not the norm as I always leave other kids parties starving -especially if they are over a mealtime and nothing is offered to parents. Yes it's a bit more work, but it's worth it - why would I only provide for DD's friends and not for MY friends? Doesn't make sense to me.

Childrens drinks - juicy water will do it. You could mix some up in a jug, or get individual cartons of apple juice?

Cake you will ahve birthday cake. This year I'm doing cupcakes too though I may cheat and buy the bases from tesco and then decorate them myself. Half the time the kids only eat the icing anyway. I'm making Nigellas clementine cake for the adults (google it) - it can be made in advance and is easy and delicious.
