Dd's dress and shoes, sorted

invitations sent
limo enquired about and nearly booked
venue for Champagne/food/speeches booked
Speech for me and dp to make, to write
name things to go on table - dp is making this week

Ooo, congrats . Being a wedding no-nothing can't help you but why no music?

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 21/11/2005 19:28

no music because we haven't got the time or energy to think of any for the reg office and they're supposed to have it 2 weeks in advance and there are loads of stipulations and we just can't be bothered! The official bit we want over and done with asap I think!

Are you doing your own make-up?

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 21/11/2005 19:30

Yes. Hmm, can't think how I'd fit in getting someone to do it. Or where I'd find someone to do it. The woman in The Body shop did it for me the other night and I looked like a whore when she'd finished!

WWW - the stipulations - which are what I assume you're on about - have been lifted!

Yes, ikwym - I did my own make-up because I wanted to look like me on my wedding day, not scare DH into marrying the best man instead!

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 21/11/2005 19:36

We're having fairy lights at the venue. Maybe I ought to just get on and order confetti and rosebuds at the same time, then some could go on the table? We're not having a present list, we don't need anything and it's a very small wedding (16 adults, 10 children and 2 tiny babies).

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 21/11/2005 19:37

I didn't look like a good looking whore even! I don't think anyone would have paid, quite frankly! Yes, wine in fridge for the next day is a good idea.

Boys shirts and ties?

If not having a bouquet could you have a clutch bag with one single tasteful flower on it?

I think you sometimes need something to hold onto when nervous, other than DP

Photographs????

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 21/11/2005 19:45

ds is wearing an Indian suit thing so doesn't need one but yes, dp does. And maybe I should go for a bouquet, you're right, I am nervous!

Jewelery.
Old new borrowed blue

soapbox · 21/11/2005 19:52

Awwwww - I hope you have a fabulous day

I've been married twice and you know having done it once does not diminish the second in any way! If anything it was more special as I was much more aware of what the commitment I was making meant

Just relax and enjoy it

Earlybird · 21/11/2005 20:05

What about music at reception? Will you need/want special lingerie to go under your dress? Any decorations/flowers for table/room at reception?

Congratulations, and hope it's a fab day!

mazzystar · 21/11/2005 20:12

how a manicure the day beofre. is nice as people will be looking at your hands but more importantly is relaxing and a but of time to be on your own and quiet at what might be a bit of a hectic time

be very happy!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 21/11/2005 20:19

Presents for bridesmaids/pageboys?
Champers for toast
Carnations - with safety pins!
Whisky (in a small bottle that you can hide in your stocking so you can take small glugs of it in the Church/Town Hall/Wherever you're getting hitched!)
Money to pay Priest (if Church), organist, caterers for a tip, etc. Always handy to give someone some money in case you need it.

sammac · 21/11/2005 20:25

Have you checked out your underwear for wearing with your dress? Make sure it's comfy/stays in the right place etc( and is darn sexy too!)

KristinaM · 21/11/2005 20:47

Defo go for music at registry office. Or you might get stuck with whatever corny tape they have. AFAIK you can have anything non religious

Also what about music for champagne reception? I kwow its only small but beautiful background music really sets the tone

Do you want your rings engraved?

Go for flowers - doesnt have to be traditional bouquet - can be a single cala lily or few red roses. And something for your Dd to carry and buttonholes for the men. You can even do the buttonholes yourself - be imaginative! Hollly or mistletoe?

mazzystar · 21/11/2005 20:50

Kristina is right,my bf ended up with a tape recording of "Iam sailing" played on the pan pipes

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 21/11/2005 21:11

OK, I've just spent over a hundred quid on rose petal confetti for throwing over us and for scattering on the tables and on red rose buds for buttonholes. Oh, this site, trulymadlydeeply is so full of gorgeous things! The ladies at John Lewis made me have a bra fitting and I have a great Wonderbra to match my dress, which is very dark purple. OMG, the thought of pan pipes and Rod Steward combo is making me think I should re consider the music at reg office! And you're so right, if I have a bouquet, dd will definitely want one too, I wouldn't have thought of that. Champagne is sorted. Some fab suggestions here and stuff I wouldn't have thought of.

At a thing we were at recently, there was a 'quiet corner' with a dvd playing for any tired kiddies that could go to and nod off. Worked for a few of them( not mine tho' too much energy!)

mazzystar · 21/11/2005 21:18

but also don't get stressed or carried away and spend another million billion pounds unless you can afford it
