You put a suggestion for a party game called the flour game on another thread. I`m having a party for 8 eight year old boys on Sunday but I need a few more details to do the game (which sounds fun).

  1. How do you form the flour into a block?
  2. How much flour does each child remove eg do I use a tea spoon or some other receptical? and finally 3. How do you determine who has won?

I`ve not done a party at home for a few years and am a bit nervous - hope you dont mind the grilling.

Figleaf - I've put a message on the May Toddlers thread for Bozza telling her about this one. She should be around later!

Hope I'm not too late to help figleaf have been busy Christmas shopping.

Right flour game. I think you just use a 2lb (1kg) bag of flour. Form it into a block using a blunt knife (eg palate knife). I would put it on a reasonably large tray and then place this on the floor on a table cloth or similar. Then insert a matchstick into the centre so it is sticking up. Then you give the children a "safe" knife - maybe a plastic one and they have to take it in turns to cut slices off the flour. The idea is not to knock the matchstick over. The child can cut off as much or little as they like. You tend to get some being brave and cutting huge chunks off. As it gets nearer the flour they cut off tiny bits. Whoever knocks the matchstick into the flour has to pick it out with their teeth. Have a cloth at hand to wipe white faces! Its more of a loosing game than a winning game IYSWIM. Although I suppose you could do rounds. And eliminate each child who knocks the matchstick down to end up with an eventual winner.

played it as a table top version today - very popular thank you.
