Am planning a craft party for dd - how does this sound?

DD wants a craft party for her 6th birthday - have not done a craft party before and this is my plan - what does anyone think? Thanks!

20 girls (I'd like less but 20 it is)

Decorate plastic headbands and rings with glass paint pens

Necklaces, bracelets and keyrings out of beads

Dangly fairy made of paper with net wings, hangs on a ribbon (have made it before with dd)

Decorate either fairy cakes or biscuits

Design a dress - basically colour in and stick glittery bits on an outline of a dress on paper.

Will have named bags ready for each child so crafts will go into them as they make them so as not to lose them all, then will add some sweets and will serve as party bags.

Was also going to plan a few games - pass the parcel, musical bumps etc and a friend is going to do temporary tattoos and nail painting.

Will also inc a party tea as well.

Does this sound enough/ too much?

Will have an adult on each activity and the idea is that 6 or so girls can be doing each activity at any one time.

Any ideas /comments gratefully received!

I have absolutely no experience of running little girls parties but I know that if I had had a party like this when I was 6 years old I would have thought that all my dreams had come true at once! Sounds absolutely fab to me and like you've planned and thought it through - if you find that the crafty things are taking longer than you thought then I guess you wouldn't need to play all the games? Hope it goes well :)

Sounds good, if possibly a little bit too much?

Presume party is 2 hours? 20 mins to get everyone settled (perhaps a simplified craft..decorating crowns or tiaras?) 20 minutes at least for food, 20 mins of games, meaning you have less than an hour to fill, including the time to herd them between activities? Maybe 3/4 crafts will be enough, and try and keep them simple. Some kids like ds aren't very arty, and will loose interest very quickly if they can't do something.

Bead necklaces, decorating cakes and fairies sound the best!

You sound like a fab mum btw, I signed ds's party over to the local soft play!

I did one like this for DD years ago, also did the named bag, put in as you go, double as party bags and it worked well. My advice would be to keep the crafts simple as they are still quite young - or at least have some simple things in addition to the more complicated things (your ideas sound lovely) e.g. strips of card for making bookmarks (I got a load of stickers from the £1 shop for this, as well as pens) and maybe just some things to colour these masks and these keyrings went down well as I recall.

I did a craft party for my dd's 6th birthday last year (had only 10 - 12 though). Got denim bags and decorated with these and self adhesive felt alphabet stickers so they could put their names on.

Did that first, and used them as the party bags, had sweets etc in little sandwich bags ready to pop straight into each one.

Then we played a game, had party tea & cake, then made wooden bead necklaces and finished off with pass the parcel. There was also some dancing and general girly faffing at the beginning and in between the organised bits, and it was enough to fill 2 hours without being stressful. The bag customising was mess free as no glue or fabric paints required and the wooden beads came in little bags all ready to hand out & make up. I had 2 mums stay, plus dd's godmother & her 16 yo daughter to help and it was probably the most relaxed party I've done (have always had DIY/at home parties!).

Sounds fab - my DD(7) would love that.

I think I've got a Baker Ross code if you (or anyone else) want it - £5 off £45, not sure if I can put it in a post or if you need to PM me?
