Struggling to find something that hits the right balance between fun but not too young. We need to have it at our house, planning on having around 6 girly friends. Don't really want to go down the spa / hair dressing route. Anyone have any ideas for something creative that they could do?

get some fabric paints/sequins and let them decorate T-shirts?

"Ladeeez Who Lunch" party??

Did something similar for DDs last Birthday, though did take her & her friends out to a restataunt & sat on a different table & let them all order etc themselves...they loved the idea of been "all grown up" & generally just gossiped their way through their food :)

You could send out invites to dress up & "meet" for a birthday lunch :)....set up a table as if in a restaraunt, write out a menu, dress yourself up as a waitress/waiter, seat them as they come in & take orders from the menu etc etc

We did plan to take them on to the fairground if they ate & got bored...but as they could gossip for England..no need, parents arrived to pick them up 3 hours later & they still had to be dragged away complainingShock

You don't necessarily have to worry about 'too young' when they're 10, you know. My DD decided she wanted party games, I was a bit dubious but they all loved it so much she wanted the same when she was 11, and again, they all thoroughly enjoyed it. This year she said she wanted to take some friends to the cinema, but when we couldn't find out what was on it turned into pizza and DVD ... and guess what, she's planning some party games too Grin

She's got her own choice of music this year at least, not Abba Gold

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am liking the crafty things. Re: 'too young' I spoke to DD about it and suggested a few games. She made a gesture that said 'that is for babies!' and I said, 'Well, not pass the parcel' and she and her 8yr old sister both said simultaneously 'Awww, but I love pass the parcel!'. Smile

The best parties (cheapest) have been tea parties in the house or even better sleepover parties with the girls. You do tend to be up till 1am with the chatter and giggling though. I have done the disco, bouncy castle and magician party and tbh i just felt totally ripped off and the kids were hyper.

Pass the parcel with most of the layers containing a forfeit was big hit. They were disappointed if they got a sweet instead Grin
