Bonfire night party...any ideas?

We are having ds2's 3rd birthday party on Nov 5th (his b'day) - we back onto a rugby club and they have a spectacular fireworks display every year - it's about £8 for tickets but we just have to nip into our back garden

So, am having party at the house with just 3 families as guests - they all have children the same age as ours (4.5 and 3 plus babies) and they've all known each other since birth.

Planning to do mid-late afternoon party with tea and then sparklers and fireworks out the back at the end.

Anyone got any ideas for what I can do with them for the time inside? Was thinking of doing something crafty so they could make things to take home and I also thought about a chocolate hunt round the house but any other ideas would be great. I'm a bit of a lazy moo so anything that would require little effort would be great!

TIA

Not really what you are after but some yummy recipes in this month's Sainsburys magazine for bonfire party food.

GDSpook - What about a bonfire wood hunt!

Buy some black paper and give them some chalks to make firework pictures. Bit of glue and glitter (glitter shakers in ELC make less mess) at the end to add sparkle!

KBear - that's a brilliant idea and a bit different from what they are used to!! Definitely logging that one!

Will look up the recipes too Gem13.

Fang - you are norty!

Another "make" - get some coloured paper. Roll three sheets up together with a sheet of tin foil in there too. Stick the edge down so you have a swiss roll effect. Cut from the top down (like paper palm trees IYKWIM) and there you have instant "fireworks" for the little ones to hold if they're a bit little for sparklers.

Any other ideas now I've bumped this back up?!
