Not board games but more games that 5 year olds can manage:

Hungry hippos
Bowl em over (from Argos)
Dominoes with spots
Jenga

We have got ludo and snakes and ladders which are manageable for 5 year olds but a bit dull.

Also if you can get it Coppit is fun and my DD (5) manages with a little bit of help.

Again, not board games
UNO
Dominos
Lego Shave a Sheep

Ragwort · 27/09/2010 21:45

UNO is great - adults can enjoy it too rather than some of those really mindless games - brings back memories of playing UNO all day every day with my 4 year old for a fortnight in Spain one year - and you can console yourself that it is educational Grin.

Junior Monopoly

Avoid Mousetrap at all costs !!

What on earth is Shave a Sheep???

Orchard Toys have some fantastic games for that age (stocked at John Lewis etc or can buy direct online)
Particular faves at our house have been Tummy Ache and Shopping List...

Shave a sheep.
We got in on the MN product test, and it is no definitely on my list for 5yo birthday presents.

Another vote for Orchard Toys here. They are great and last well (ie don't fall apart!)

Thanks for enlightening me re: Shave a Sheep ChasingSquirrels.

Agree - Orchard Toys are good - Shopping List is fun (try the French version if you want to show off Grin).

Pick up sticks is fun; any 'memory' card game as well.

Exactly what Ragwort said!!!!

Junior Monopoly is FAB!!!

Mousetrap is a setting-up nightmare.

Don't like Junior Cluedo; seemed more complicated than the adult one!

Like Junior Pictionary and Articulate

Guess Who is fun?

Operation is a bit fragile for this household!
