Individual boxes of food at a 5th birthday party?

I have never attended a party where this was done - does it work? Do they eat anything? I love the idea but don't want disappointed, weirded out children! Kids will sit around at table for their boxes and drink, then I'd bring out jelly/ cakes too after 5/ 10 minutes. My DDs are a bit obsessed with lunch boxes, so I know that they'd love it. Was going toput loads of mini crackers on the table as well to distract the kids who don't eat anything.

its a good idea. It can be done in advance and you don't over cater. They can also take it home if they don't finish (i have done that before!)

I've used them a lot and find they work well.

Saves on too much fussiness. My line being that they don't have to eat anything that they don't like.

I bring out the cakes and biscuits after they have had a while with their sandwiches, grapes and cheese.

I've stopped doing cartons of drink as lots of dcs only like water (my dd included) so I now use paper cups with lids and straws and have a jug of water and a jug of squash.

They also work well if you have any children attending who have allergies or particular dietary requirements as you can label them.

Been to a couple of parties where this has been done - it worked really well.
On the reply slip for one party, we were asked to choose which sandwich was preferred eg ham / tuna / cheese

Thanks guys. I have one child with severe allergies and a diabetic and hadn't even though that it would be more convenient ffrom that point of view.

I do it all the time and it works really well. Much less waste imo and the children like it too.

I do it so that each child had 1 triangle each of 4 different flavour sandwiches. Usually I do ham, cheese, tuna and jam.
