Just this really. I've a 20 year old who receives nothing from his dad and so I've always overcompensated. I do have a younger child at home and would really like to ensure they have more now. As a guid, what are we spending on adult children?

Nothing we decided no more gifts anx money for adult children who work and earn well and don't even buy us a keyring so presents for minor children only.

If you have adult children and you have money please consider giving it now. Your annual gift allowance is £3000. So me and DH will be giving 3k each to adult DS over the course of the year. This is not liable for iht.

I have four in their twenties. I'm giving £150 cash each, a food/ dining card each that they can share with their partners and a couple of gifts. The two eldest earn well and the two youngest are both students and get financial help from us.

About 250-400 each, depending what they want.
first year they aren’t getting stockings though - eldest is 27 youngest almost 21- I’ve said sorry I’m done on the stockings front!

Funnily enough I've stopped stockings this year too. I've spent similar. I knew I'd go over. There's always something that catches my eye. All things they need though. And want.

I actually don't know and slightly afraid to calculate it. Dh and I buy stuff for dd20 independently, probably me more - maybe about £400ish (maybe more...). But then I take her clothes shopping in the sales (£200 or so). She's last year uni so not working. I'm sure she'd be fine with a lot less it's driven by me enjoying getting her stuff. Over the years, spending has varied with our financial circumstances. We had a couple of years where we all agreed hand-made or second-hand only. Still doing a stocking for now.
