Best way to get a Xray / scan on the NHS

My son has recently left home and is living in a flat share in London. On NY eve he hurt his ankle. He didn't go to A or E or the doctors. He is registered at home not his new address.
His ankle is still swollen and standing on it for any length of time increases the swelling. He enjoys climbing and hiking but is unable to do either.
He went to private physio and they gave him exercises to do which he has done regularly but it hasn't shown much improvement.
How can he go about getting an Xray or scan as needed? It is hardly an emergency but it does need sorting.
Could he go into a walk in urgent care centre or be sent for a Xray via a GP?
Sorry for the long post

Go to the GP and let them examine it and decide on the best course of action.

GP can refer for xray

I’m a physio - if this was my DD I’d be encouraging her to go to urgent care.

Gp can refer for x ray

Gp can send you for x-rays. I've had smae day ones before now as well.

Can he go see a GP, you can see any GP in the UK even when away from home but he should really register with one close to where he's living.

First of all he needs to register for a local Gp then make an appointment
