DD has just started Uni and is really keen to join the OTC. It's right up her alley and a good follow on from some things she did in her gap year.

However, she has to get through the application which includes a health assessment. Her GP also contributes. Apparently ADHD and autism are both barriers to entry. DD has been diagnosed with ADHD since she was 13 or so (inattentive type). She struggled with the academic side of school but has thrived in other more hands on contexts (e.g. working in the restaurant business, volunteering).

Does anyone have experience of navigating the health assessment with a similar condition successfully?

ADHD isn't an automatic bar to joining the Army (though it can restrict eligibility for some roles) so I don't see how it could be for the OTC. Especially as the Army knows that some people with ADHD absolutely thrive when they are in an environment with a combination of structure and high physical engagement.

Recruiters will typically want to know more about how it manifests itself, how stable it is and has been recently, whether she is on meds etc. Something at the back of my mind is saying that if medicated, they'll want to see a period of good control (with no change of prescription).
