My 16 year old daughter and her friend really want to go away on holiday in the summer - I think she's too young to go abroad so suggested they go away for a few days in UK, not sure where? Maybe an organised holiday/ volunteering etc. she wants to travel... actually is desperate to!!

Just checked and she can't even book into a premier Inn until she's 18!

Any thoughts / ideas / suggestions?? Thanks

In the UK, just the summer holidays especially at that age there are several things they could do not only together but would also give something to add to their CV. There are many volunteer schemes which include team building exercises etc, and most don't need any payment from you. The one my daughter did a year ago did cost me £60 but that's not too bad and it was good for her and she got a couple of certifications as well

How about a youth hostel?

Me and my friends went to Cornwall on the train (last year) - was about £200 each (5 people) including food, train tickets (we have railcards though..) and accommodation in a static caravan type place. They were fine with letting us stay there under 18, if you want the accom name I'll post it here but we stayed for a week and it was great fun

Hilarious in Scotland you could get married at 16 but not go on honeymoon?!;

Agree with youth hostelling or summer job with live in accommodation?
