'Global Work and Travel'

DS aged 21 has decided he's going to Australia next year for 12 months with his girlfriend. They are going with Global Work and Travel apparently and have to find nearly £6k in order to go.

He's not giving us much info - other than wanting to borrow money! (everything is on a 'need to know' basis 🤷🏻‍♀️) so just wondered if anyone had any experience of this at all?

This Global Work and Travel? Not sure why they need £6k. The fee seems to be £1,995, with a possible reduction to £1,495. Why can't he work here )I assume you're in the UK?) and save the money he needs for the GWT fees?

Don't think I'd be lending money for this. If he wants to go they can save up.

He can't seriously be expecting to be able to borrow money from anyone without providing details about what he wants to borrow it for ?

I agree with pp though, that if he wants to take a year out to work and travel, he needs to put together a plan of how he is going to finance it - maybe working PT until after exams, then FT and not going until September? That should give him a decent start for flights.
His plan sounds an expensive way of doing things.

OP there is a huge labour shortage in Australia, finding work is very easy. Finding staff is very challenging.
Working Holiday Visa's would allow him to work for 6 months at a time and cost $500.
You do however need to prove you have enough funds to support yourself when you arrive in Australia. (Roughly £3000) but immigration never ask for it. A credit card is also accepted as proof of funds.
If he wants to do a gap year, he doesn't necessarily need one of these expensive companies!
