Trigger Warning - Has my parents given my baby solids?

Hey! Just looking for a bit advice. Our little one has been overnight at the grandparents and we feel a little suspicious. Our baby has done a poo which seems to be thicker in consistency and we noticed threads and tiny clumps? His poo is normally really smooth and more liquidy.

Our baby is nearly 6 months but we haven’t tried him on any solids just yet.

Would you say our baby has been given solids? If so, what does it look like?

Why would it even cross your mind? Babies have different consistency of poops, not sure I'd be wanting to babysit for you to be honest if your this paranoid.

footpedal · 05/05/2023 17:46

Grim. Post needs a warning however much you think otherwise!

KnittedCardi · 05/05/2023 17:48

Firstly, it's only poo, why douch angst. Secondly, just ask the grandparents ffs. If they have, c'est la vie. It won't have done any harm. Chill.

Pretty sure my kids did poos like that pre-solids.

Theunamedcat · 05/05/2023 17:55

Banana poop

DragonbornMum · 05/05/2023 18:37

At that age food wouldn't really get digested, so you'd see it in the nappy startlingly similar to how it goes in

TooBigForMyBoots · 05/05/2023 18:40

You'd be better asking them rather than posting pictures of poo on the internet.

Justputitdown · 05/05/2023 18:40

No this is a normal poo but an abnormal thread. Why does it matter and why don't you ask them instead of asking people on the Internet to turn poo detective?

Frankly you're lucky you have grandparents who want to look after such a young baby for you.

ComeTheFuckOnBridgett · 05/05/2023 18:43

Surely asking them would give you a better answer than showing your baby's shit off to strangers on the internet???

I mean given the name of the title, are you surprised?

Are people surprised by a photo of your kids shit when there’s no warning?

Yeah I’d say so. Fucking hell

🤣🤣

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 05/05/2023 18:47

Looks like teething poop to me, which are vile!!

And YABU to post a photo 🤮

husbandcallsmepickle · 05/05/2023 18:47

Just ask the grandparents what baby has "consumed" today

IndiaPaleAle · 05/05/2023 18:48

Gross

naemates · 05/05/2023 18:50

My DS had smooth runny poos and when we started giving him some soft foods like porridge and purées at the very start of weaning, I'd say they did go like the one in the pic.

I also have keen sneaky grandparents about, so get your issue too.

(If investigating nappies is your thing you're going to love weaning, DH says I'm gross 🤷🏻‍♀️)

gentlemum · 05/05/2023 18:58

My breastfed baby's poop looked like this all the time before solids. I guess go by whether the poop has been like this before or is it totally unusual for baby? If so then I'd suspect grandparents have given something they shouldn't. And I understand why you'd want to think about it before accusing them of giving something, but you won't know for sure until you ask them.

DidyouNO · 05/05/2023 19:00

Good grief. I think this is one of the things you'll look back on OP when PFB has siblings and absolutely cringe! 😂😂
This really is dreadful!!

TomatoSandwiches · 05/05/2023 19:00

That's a mucus like poop from teething or allergies, perhaps grandparents have a dusty home, a pet or air freshners that have irritated baby but not a trying solids poop, you will know the difference when it happens trust me.

Tempone · 05/05/2023 19:00

This reminds me of that programme where that woman would judge peoples shit, and then tell them.how to make healthier suits.

ExhaustedPigwidgeon · 05/05/2023 19:02

It’s not the end of the world surely?

ElmTree22 · 05/05/2023 19:19

God op I don't know why people are so sensitive about a little bit of poo! Absolute nonsense!

Keha · 05/05/2023 20:04

I fortunately got the sensitive content warning and was prepared. I've just started my 6 month old on solids. Honestly couldn't tell from that poo, they often don't consume very much the first few meals either so I think it would be really hard to tell. I was giving my baby things like broccoli and only tiny amounts were noticeable. Baby poo also changes with teething and if they are ill. I wouldn't be risking "accusing" anyone on that photo.
