NVQ 2 in Childcare and Education

I have been looking into doing this in september but i'm having a couple of probs and was wondering if anyone had any solutions or could tell me what they did.

The course is one day a week and the centre would provide a creche place for my 2.6 yr old Dd. The problem though is that they expect you to do 2 days or equivelent of work experiance a week, and for this they do not allow you to use the creche.

I cann't afford to pay for childcare for another 2 days a week and was wondering if anyone else had also had this prob and how they solved it.

My only idea so far is to try and get Dd2 into a playgroup 4 mornings a week and then volunteer there, but i'm not sure if that is allowed.

I would be grateful of any help with this. The centre is now closed until the 31st of August so I can't ask them and really need to get it sorted now.

Hi
Ive just completed this course and i have 20 month old son.Depending on whether you are on benefits you can claim from th college for help with childcare costs. When i was on the course one of the other mums was at the playgroup with her son and so long as your child will go off and play then its usually ok it also depends on the individual playgroup.Stick at it its well worth doing im now due to starta social workers course in sept.

I've just completed the course. Its brilliant by the way. Funding for childcare is dependent on your financial situation. If you are in receipt of benefits and have a lone parent advisor talk to them. I was able to register my daughter into a private day nursery for the days I was in my placement as well as 1 additional day for homework, 4 days in total (2=placement, 1=college, 1 =study). Go and enquiry you have nothing to lose and a qualification to gain. Also most colleges have a nursery attached to them and also provide funding for private day nurseries.

I am a childminder currently doing the NVQ3 in this subject and I would welcome a helpful pair of hands from someone just like you. You could bring your child with you no problem but you would need to have a CBR check and I would need to register you with Ofsted as my temporary assistant. I don't suppose you live near me but maybe there are other childminders like me who would understand exactly the requirements of your course and welcome you and your dd into their setting?

i'm a childminder and like Goosey - I'd be able to offer the same deal
