Parenting course: which one to do?

I'm thinking of doing a parenting course in September and would appreciate some advice.

I was going to do the Parenting Practice's 10 week couse, which a friend has recommended very highly and I think looks great, BUT it costs £400 and is an hour's drive away, and I would need to pay for childcare for my youngest for the first hour of the day to get there on time. I can get the childcare - a local childminder has confirmed she is available - but it will add about £40 to the total cost.

Alternatively, our local Sure Start centre is doing a 10 week course at the same time called the Parenting Puzzle. I haven't asked about cost yet but a friend has told me it is free but you pay for course materials. It's about 15 minutes drive away and I wouldn't need to pay for childcare.

The choice looks so obvious put like that, doesn't it? But I would really like to hear from anyone who has done either course, especially the Parenting Puzzle. I could pay the £400 but it would take a chunk out of my savings and I would rather avoid it, but I know that course is very good and know nothing about the Parenting Puzzle one.

I have worked with people who have delivered the parenting puzzle one - I think it's very good

I don't know anyhting about the other one though.

Does your local church run a parenting course? If so, it is likely to have a very minimal charge, and will include a meal so you can meet other parents. They will also be able to provide childcare.
